does anyone keep these covers installed ? engine bay
I never had these on my last 05GT. I took them off cause well..I hate not seeing whats going on and these made it hard if there was a problem. mainly the valve cover covers I dont like.
I have the center one also. IMO, the valve cover ones hold too much heat right there around the top of the engine. Like you, I like to be able to see whats going on, and under the intake cover, there is nothing going on.
I have a set, and they'd be on, painted black with the silver stripes and graphics kept/taped... but I don't have mounting hardware for 'em, and I'm lazy about goin' out there and makin' me a set from scratch. I got the set cheap because the hardware's gone.
I didn't have the valve covers, and I took off the plenum cover because it interfered with cleaning the throttle body (because of strut tower brace) and I also thought the engine might run a little cooler (on road track) without that plastic cover holding in the heat
I know I know... it's not the same, don't shoot me just joshin'.
It's nice that CJ's has them in black, however, I already have the set. Not all that interested in buyin' them again at that price. Also, they don't have the intake cover, just the coil covers, in the black so there's that. But it's good they have stuff still for these 3Vs!

Had only the intake plenum cover on my first S197 which was a 2005 GT.. My current "06" GT has the Saleen series VI S/C which cannot be installed with an intake plenum cover, due to having a different intake manifold

that Saleen is the cleanest looking install of any positive displacement blower I have seen for these cars . . . I missed the boat years ago when they stopped selling them

I thought it might be good for a half a degree or so, on the intake where the heat is trapped, LOL

I'll often get questions from folks at car meets, like where is the blower pulley and when I try to explain to them it's under the throttle body, they get this really confused look and can't seem to understand the reasoning for the Saleen's inverted design lol.. Don't know if your aware of this or not, but just before Saleen filed for bankruptcy back in 2010-11, the engineer who designed the Saleen series VI S/C moved on to work for Edlebrock and designed the Edlebrock E-Force S/C..
Although the internals of the E-Force is a Eaton TVS design versus the twin screw design of the Saleen series VI, they both share very similar manifold designs which include longer intake runners designed to improve low-end torque and they also both share inverted designs.
The only negative issues I have with the inverted design of the Saleen S/C is the re-location of the alternator which requires re-installing it, facing backwards.. This in my opinion, causes a ventilation obstruction by facing the front of the alternator away from the engine cooling fan and therefore increases the potential risk for overheating.. The re-location of the alternator also does not provide enough clearance to install most aftermarket cold air kits with the exception of the JLT series III and Saleen Extreme/Ultimate CAI.
For my personal application, the stock Saleen airbox provides plenty of airflow for my particular needs, as it's airbox lid is integrated with an oval 98mm MAF housing over the standard Mustang GT which has the smaller 80" MAF airbox housing..
Other than that, the Saleen series VI has been providing many great years of reliability, fun and have no regrets

If he doesn't have them for sale, I'll give you the center section, just pay the postage. It's just sitting in the shed collecting dust. Would they charge you custom's if it's free? Let me know if you want it.

I guess was just a 2005 thing, I don't recall ever seeing them ... but if I did, might have thought aftermarket?
I had the plenum cover on my 2010 GT Premium, but not the coil covers; I think the plenum cover was a "Premium" thing but don't know where the coil covers came from

They were indeed part of the appearance upgrade package option which became available, beginning in 2007..
