Serious as a heart attack. Maybe theres some sort of weld there on the hood? I dunno.

Theres defintly some imperfection on that part of the mustangs I've looked at, at shows.

If you look closely at the part of the hood under the front "flap", the welding material makes it look like "rust" bubbling under the paint.

I have seen some surface rust starting in the trunk lip area, around where the hinges join. Its not bad, but I dont like it. I always dry that entire area too after I wash the car!

It came from the factory (literally, within 24 hours) like that.

Was detailing the car last week and noticed this. It must be rust bubbling under the paint from the weld. I know the hood is alum and doesn't rust but this was NOT there before. I routinely dry the undersides after a wash (inside trunklid, door jambs, bottom inside of doors etc) and this bubbling was not there last time I detailed.

I've never had to make a claim for corrosion on a car before. Has anyone had any experience with this type of claim? Do they paint the entire hood during the repair? Am I allowed to choose the bodyshop or do I have to use the one the dealer uses? Is there a dollar value to the repair like insurance where I can "substitute" and use this to upgrade to a diff style hood?

Thanks for any helpful info.

I noticed the "bubbling" 24 hours after the car was manufactured. It has remained the same after 5 months.

Thanks, that's good to hear that is hasn't worsened. Maybe I'll watch it and if it spreads deal with it then. Althought it just occured to me that if they do repaint, that will get rid of all the stone chips in the hood *ahem RON (94tbird)*
