Hey, just got an email from my dealer. I had stopped there late last week and got the status of the car (P5) which basically says it's been delivered. Since nothing was there he said that he checked with the order processing center this morning and they told him that 5000 units had been pulled for a quality issue and that his allocation was part of the 5000. As I am somewhat skeptical with all dealer issues, though I do trust what I hear from this guy, you never know if the info he gets is factual....Anyway, anybody know what the "QUALITY" issue is? Here are his exact words....Maybe this is why no pictures have been posted as of yet?

"I did call the order processing center this morning. What I found
out was that there are 5000 units pulled for a quality issue. These units
are being reworked (whatever that means, she could not tell me what the
issue was) and they are scheduled to be released by the beginning of
November. All three of the mustangs on my list of incoming units are

Well there are a bunch starting to show up at dealers as we speak, so I don't know? Yeah.... I'd very skeptical as well.

 

Whatever it might be, it is better they find them now and correct them. Kudos to Ford for aggressively sticking for quality control. That is the way it should be.

Beats the corporate embarrassment of a recall on your beloved Mustang when it is less than a year old!

 

I just talked to a Dealer here in Texas and he said that some of their GT's were delayed, so maybe there is some truth to this rumor. He didn't have any details as to what might be causing the delay.

 

Mine's delayed, but because of the IUP.

 

they could just do a 'technical update' or 'safety enhancement' like japanese cars do so you wouldnt think they ever had a recall I think congress passed a law recently saying that they can no longer do it and have to call them recalls.

 

I heard something about a problem with the fuel delivery system that would account for this.

 

Will the dealers that this effects be contacted?

 

Sounds to me if there *is* actually a problem, it will affect us all. 5000 on lot, 5000 on hold?

 

I heard the issue was the placement of the floormats was not correct so then had to send out Pop-bottle Pete to re-position all of the floormats.

I'm so tired of all the issues going around. If any of this was true you would not see all of these other cars being shipped.

 

There is a very good likelyhood as well, that if you have a Vehicle Status Report showing "REL CONVOY" or "SHP CONVOY" you could be in for a very long wait. The way I understand it is that, those listed that way have simply been moved from the AAI lot to the Rail Station lot via truck. They have not been loaded to a train. Once the VSR reads a train #, or simply "RELEASED" you should be in the clear...

 

Per VOPC, 2800 GT's are on quality hold with a undetermined delivery time. A total of 5007 (which means 2207 V6's) are also on quality hold with an undetermined ETA.

 

I just called Fords hotline and I talked for a good 30 mins about the car she assured me no delay. Take it for what its worth but thats what I was told.

I called the VOPC as well, and they gave me the follow delays:

Parts Shortage
Quality Delay
Reduced production because they have too many on the lots because of delayed shipping

 

A friend of a friend who knows some guy at a dealership found out that some cars were delayed, due to a shortage of blinker fluid from a supplier.

 

Ah man, anything but the blinker fluid.

 

the only thing ive heard about being reworked is the cars with the IUP, main problems were in mexico where they were being assembled, quality issues down there. they may just now be getting around to the problem but its nothing major. Theyve got a huge tent just down the road from me (Woodhaven Autoport) where theyve been storing/reworking them since they noticed the problem. if i can find out anything else ill be sure to post
