Took about 2HR to install have some clay to place under hood to find center of pin to drill. The hard part is a 3/4 drill I started with a small bit and went to a 1/2 " then used a taper drill that has graduated sizes.

I did not realize the shelby pins come in black. Another thing to add to the buy list.

has anyone used the steeda hood pins?

also, my friend has a black fiberglass aftermarket hood w/ pins and he has had his hood repainted about 7 times because of the pins causing the hood to crack around that area.

i am thinknig of getting the steeda full cowl hood and steeda hood pins, will i have the same problem?

the install isn't too hard but it definitely is something that should be done by one who is comfortable with a drill and saw.
here's a pic installed:
For some reason I cannot see your attached pics. Do you have any pics with somewhat of a closeup installed?

Love those tri-locks. Doesn't "Fang" [I think that's the name of the place] sell these for the 2005-up cars? Pricey when I checked last, though.

Thinking I need hood pins, which ones?

The more I see pictures of the 05+ Mustang with hood pins I think I need them to. I have some concerns / questions however:

-What if the tethers rub the hood at highway speeds and scratch / remove paint?
-Drilling holes in the hood, just cover bare metal edges with touch up paint?
-Stainless, chrome (corrosion resistant)
-Place to buy?
-What will they look like after 5+ years?

I do want the tethers, I think they look better.

Lots of different opinions on hood pins but I went with the Ford Racing pins because I like the 'old school' look. I have had zero issues with the lanyards scratching the paint. I have them pretty well tucked so there isn't alot of slop. I do have some scratches on the plates but they are easily replaced and when the pins are in you can't see them. I also filled the gap in the layers of the hood with some liquid metal stuff to keep the water out.

I got the Shelby hood pins but I have not installed them yet. I actually went w/ those b/c they 5 inches and are supposed to not require raising or modification to penetrate the hood. But once again I have not installed them.

I just put mine in, I bought them at Auto Zone for 9 bucks, I removed the hood bumps, and drilled from the underside of the support so I could fit a 3/4 socket, I got the location of a saleen I saw.

Any with the hood closed? I have seen a few in that location, I like that spot as it puts them farther to the outside. I have black stripes, so I don't want them close to the center.
