Did they finally changed the keys for '07?

Just found this pic on eBay and the texture on this key is different than than the cheap stuff on the '05/'06 keys.
Anyone with an '07 compared them?

That looks just like my '05 key.

My '05 key looks exactly like that texture just from banging around in my pocket for 18 months

Has anyone figured out if the fusion keys would work?

My '07 key looks the same, but I haven't personally seen an '05 key so I can't say anything about the texture or material. The fusion key doesn't work.

Just compared my two keys (first pic) and I didn't realize they had that texture when they were new. That cover is so cheap, it smooths out over time.

Looks like I'll be getting one of the older ones real soon. (second pic)

The '07 keys are of a harder plastic compared to the 05 keys. Durability should be better. (It wouldn't take much.)

Fusion keys are not backward compatible with the Mustang Securilok and keyless entry systems-sorry.

I haven't noticed any of the peeling or flaking on my '07 key that I had on the '05, but I've only had it for 2 weeks, and don't have any other keys on the same ring. It does go into my pocket with the other keys though.

This may be a dumb question, but the Mustangs don't have remote locking/unlocking? Even with the Active Anti-theft? Or do those cars come with different keys?

Yes the Mustangs, at least my 06 GT came with the same keys as the 07 and the car also has remote locking/unlocking along with Active anti-theft.

Well I just got my 07 today and I compared my brand new 07 keys to my extra set of unused 05 keys. They are exactly the same, no difference in texture at all.

I guess it's a good thing that you're complaining about the key materials...it means there's nothing to really complain about with the car!
And I don't see any quality problems with my '06 key. I's a major step up from my '96 chevy key with the resistor pellet in it.
