That sucks. Insurance may go up depending upon your ins co's underwriting policies and State's insurance regulations. If this is considered a 'comp' claim, it's less likely to affect your rates.

Your lucky Happened to me in a company truck, the police had to use his weapen to stop him from suffering , Jumped in front and the under carrige bolts caused irreversable damage. I'm sorry to hear it happened to your pony it just can happen so fast when they leap there's nothing one can do. With your Insurance do you get one free no penalty where you are ?

Dang that sucks!!! Sorry to hear that. I just came back from Ohio about 2 hours ago and I was driving as cautiously as I could since there are a ton of deer out there.

If you have comprehension it should fall under that.

I have Allstate and that is where it would fall if it were me.

Make sure you say the deer ran out and HIT YOU, not that you hit the deer.
It will make the diff if it falls under the comp and you ratre not increaseing and it being a flat out claim and your rate going up

Dude that sucks . Sorry to hear about the "hit and run". Hopefully the insurance company will not whack you too hard.

I hit a deer ( or he hit me ) about 2 years ago, my insurance co did not count that at a mark against me. I was doing about 60 when I saw him about 2' in front of my headlight... too late. Totaled my car ( Monte Carlo). Air bags did not go off but glad no one was in the other lane cuz I took up both plus the sholders to gain controll and get the car stoped.
Glad you are all right... guess the nerves will take a bit to calm down and the pony can be fixed. Good luck

hey it could have been worse man. your rate shouldnt go up. but then again we live in NJ, and if you tell them your car got scratched from a rock kicking up... they'll increase your rate even though there wsa no claim. so best of luck to you man. and be happy that nothing worse happened.

What a drag! It happens so fast, there's not much you can do. Glad to hear you didn't leave the road or get other vehicles involved. Good luck with the repairs!

Really sorry to hear about this. Glad you're OK. Same thing happened to me some years back and my insurance co, USAA, didn't raise my rates so hopefully yours won't go up.

FYI for those concerned about deer and airbags, airbags won't go off 99% of the time if you hit a deer. Airbags are designed to go off upon sudden deceleration, deer usually bounce away from a hit and not stop a car's momentum down to zero fast enough like another vehicle or a Moose would.

Thankfully the deer didn't go inside your car. I was sent a bunch of pics of a Trailblazer that hit a deer and it went in the windshield. I didn't post them b/c they are graphic and not sure if that is allowed on here.

IMO, Repair it and sell it. Nothing worse than driving a wrecked car. Even once repaired, it is never the same. Frames bend, panels don't line up correctly, and the driving experience is never the same.

If it's a comprehensive insurance claim USUALLY you won't get knocked. Here in CA (I work for an insurance company) we will only raise rates on comp claims if negligent behavior on your part (ie, speeding) was a main contributing factor to the incident.

In this case, it's a deer... You were going 45 (posted speed limit?), hard to see how they could nail you.

Of course, things could be different in NJ, the land of NO LEFT TURN LANES...
