Decisions decisions.. used 08-10 GT or order '12 GT

Ok so I am a noob, and currently in the market for a GT Premium MT. Here is my dilemma, I can either pick up a low milage 08-10 GT or possibly order a '12 GT with the exact options/colors I want. To me it seems like a no brainer, if the finances are there, get the '12 for the 5.0 and better milage along with the full factory warranty. However, IF I find a suitable used low milage for the right price, I can get a much lower payment, and still have cash for some immediate upgrades. What would you do?? Order a '12 GT Prem 6MT with Brembo and HID pkgs, and be content for a while, or pick up an 08-10 and throw CAI/Tune, 19" wheels/tires, and upgrade the Shaker speakers, and possibly a Borla Stinger cat back? Now here is the best part, the wife prefers the '12 after we stopped at a local dealer and saw a '11 in the same color combo (black/brick red) with Brembos. Let me know what you would do.

I would wait for the 12. I wish I waited until 2007 to get mine so I could have bought the Cobra....but I was impatient.

Which one inspires you?

Some can't do the diaper - even with the 5.0.

I would shop around for the perfect '08 or '09 car. They have the body style I like better, and the suspension can be easily modded to perform like the new ones, and better still. You'll be down on power and interior refinement in comparison, but you won't need more power in a daily driver, anyway. MPG will still be around 26 highway, if you can resist going crazy with mods.

Well, you could spend near 40k for a 2012 or 22k for an '09. Very big price difference.

...and for only $18K more, you wouldn't have to look at the flat rear end..

+1 Think about the damage you could do with 18k to spend on upgrades...

This all really just depends on how much money you have and what your personal tastes are. I for one would go straight for the '12 if I had the money. The 5.0 offers a much greater base for performance right out of the box and its been demonstrated on this board and others that with not very much money at all, these cars can go low 12s or high 11s. To do that with the 4.6 you'd practically have to shove a rocket up the cars butt. I also prefer the look of the '05-'09 however the difference isn't enough to offset the performance difference.

Update Decision made...

Hi all Great suggestions, and while it was a stretch to reach for a 12 5.0, the overtime at work got cut in half or worse it seems, so i will be several thousand away. Looks like an 05-09 is soon to be parked in the garage, displacing the wife's 08 Escape XLT V6 LOL, not really, as its never been in the garage.. so I am scouring the web for the perfect car to become my obsession LOL. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me that we still get some good OT, and I will have a stash of cash to start upgrading! I already have a list of upgrades planned. Guess I'll have to wait for the 2014 to get a brand spankin new Mustang LOL

Have you considered picking up an 07-09 GT500? Just work on that suspension a bit and you're set! Plus, they're very easy to pull power out of. Gotta love that 5.4.

I love my 05 but if I had a choice between a new 2012 or a used 08-10 I would definently go with the 5.0. With the right mods the 2010+ body style can look pretty good IMO, and the engine is badass!

I would have rather bought a 2011-2012 5.0 too, but this is about getting what you want within you're budget. I wanted a special edition of a v8 muscle car with leather. To get that from a 2011-2012 I would have had to spend $37k-$40k. I can't justify that much of a price difference. I wish I could
