See sig for what I have ordered.

Ordered on 12-28-04

Still C/U

I found a car that is the same in all respects accept for two things.

It has shaker 1000.
No ICAP.

Question 1:
Is the shaker 1000 worth the $?

Question 2:
Interior is charcoal. Can I buy the red leather and is that all that is included in the ICAP package?

Thanks all for your 2 cents.

Thats easy...Interior upgrade is all the aluminum accents and the mycolor dash display while the ICAP is the interior color accent package which is the red seats and red inserts in the door panels.

Whoops, got mixed up with ICAP and the IUP-light, whatever acronym they are using for that.

You have to get the IUP to get the ICAP. Like previously posted the ICAP is just the color change on the seats, the red floor mats (which I don't like) and he red door inserts.

The 500 sounds just as good as the 1000. They both have the same speakers all around except the 1000 has 2 subs in the trunk.

The only reason I got the subs was because I got the vert and I like my music loud when I'm alone. I figured I would need the additional power for cruising with the top down otherwise I would have gotten the 500 for a coupe it was plenty. (unless you like that thumping type music) B)

Ponyboy 66...

I have the same dilemma. I've found a car that is exactly what I want, except it has 1 thing I don't want, and doesn't have 1 thing I do want.

What I don't want :

The Shaker 1000 : This is just an unnecessary $1,300 expense for me. The Shaker 500 will give you awesome sound for your car. The Shaker 1000 will give awesome sound for the entire neighborhood. If you are one of those people who likes to ruin their hearing playing music to get noticed, go with the 1000. If not, the 500 will be plenty of sound for you.

What I do want :

Interior upgrade package. Unfortunately, this car doesn't have it. I like the satin aluminum dash paneling, and the Mycolor option. I think I would always be wishing I had that.

So, I'm leaning towards waiting to see if I can get what I want. I don't mind waiting a couple of months. I just don't want to be forced to wait 4-5 months to get my car.

I'm hoping that since Ford is upping their production I can get what I'm looking for. I guess I would rather wait a few months to get exactly what I want in a car that I'm likely going to have for at least 4-5 years.

Hi,

IMO, the shaker 1000 would be a total waste of money. Its a car for goods sake how loud and bassey can you listen to it! I almost didn't want the shaker 500 but it came with the car I bought. This may sound biased but the car I bought had a custom aftermarket package that included custom leather two tone (red/black) seats ( much nicer then factory ) and a custom dash with additional accents around the stereo and armrests that look far nicer then the factorty IUP that ford gives you. You may want to look into the aftermarket stuff out there. It may be cheaper then fords and looks much nicer IMO.

The NIUP (Neutered Interior Upgrade Package) is showing up on a lot of GTs in my area.

Ponyboy: I don't think the Shaker 1000 is worth the $. I've read threads that say aftermarket systems provide more bang for the buck.

Thanks for your input everyone.

I've been waiting since 12-28 and my dealer tells me he has no allocations for March. I have been first to go on the list for 6 weeks.

I'm getting very frustrated. Not impatient, jut frustrated.

If my dealer called me today and said your call will be here June 1st I would shut up and not worry about it.

I'm hearing too many horror stories about people getting calls from their dealers saying that they aren't getting their cars, or that when the car comes in they can't sell it X-Plan.

I guess my 42 years of existence has taught me some patience. I will use it unless I see my EXACT car somewhere. Only then I may act on it.

Shaker 1000 not worth the extra $ IMO, ICAP nice, but you could get the car and do something cooler, like have a custom shop put in red leather inserts and piping, etc. It'd look just as goodor better and be more unique.
Point is, both those problems can easily be solved in the aftermarket, for about the same $.

In my area, too, including a Windveil Blue one with an $8995 "market adjustment".

BTW, for those who don't know, the official name of the above is Interior Sport Appearance Package (ISAP, for short), which includes only the upgraded steering wheel and shifter from the full-on IUP, nothing else. Sometimes referred to as IUP-lite as well.

I'm sure you can. It would mean replacing seats, door panels and floor mats. I'm also sure it will cost you $$$ unless you can find someone with ICAP who would prefer an all-charcoal interior and will swap you. I agree with 6505pony on the mats. Charcoal mats look better with ICAP, IMO, and will be much easier to keep looking clean.

Yep, the "neutered" interior package is on the GT I'm looking at as well. It's so frustrating because if it just had the full thing it would be EXACTLY what I want.

Some idiot specially ordered it this way. They got the nice wheels, wheel kits, int. sport pkg, and everything, but didn't go all the way for the upgrade package. Of course, they never picked up the car either.
