Is there any dealership in PA that is willing to take X plan on an 06 Mustang?

My friend is getting the major run around and has called 6 dealerships so far. He lives in Allentown, PA

Sucks for you none Michigan folks getting this kind of run around from rude dealerships. It's really not an issue here.

Thanks in advance.

That's close to my old stomping grounds. My wife went to Nursing School there. There are a couple TMS member dealer salespersons form southeastern PA.

Thanks for the info Chris... I just gave my friend the heads up.

He says "thanks" too. He's called nearly all the dealerships near him with no luck.

Ed -- Cool. I lived in Pittsburgh while in college, which I know is on the other side of the state.. but still hahaha I miss PA at times.

I work at Pitt. If O fries would keep for more than a few hours, frozen or not (I've tried), I'd send some out to you two.

Mustang pricing nonsense is pathetic. I special ordered a V6 Coupe here in Atlanta from Peachtree Ford in Chamblee. I had to wait 6 weeks for the car since it was a specal order. I was treated extremely fair by this dealer & I'd recommend them to anybody looking for a new car in ATL.

The MSRP sticker on the car was $25,025. The dealer invoice was approx $23,400 (which INCLUDES approx $1400 in dealer profit in the form of holdback -- remember advertized dealer invoice is NOT dealer cost) and the X plan was $23,285 on my car. This represents approx $1,100 profit on the car for the dealer (don't forget there are fees for advertising, etc. which are paid that have NO profit for the dealer, hence that is why the MSRP less the #'s I posted here for dealer invoice/x-plan don't equal 100% dealer profit). I felt that was a fair price for both myself and the dealer sales and was happy w/ the pricing.

I received from the dealer $600 down towards my downpayment, so my actual sale price was $22,685. I financed the car through the dealer/dealer-arranged loan, paid $499 to the dealer when I went through the F&I process for their 'documentation & dealer fees' (so my actual sale price was around $23,184 as far as I was concerned -- still very fair so I did not object to paying the fee), purchased my ESP warranty, Tire/Wheel package, and safeguard theft protection (glass etching) through the dealer as well.

I also purchased through the parts department approx $1500 worth of accessories out of the Ford Accessories catalog, and had them installed at the dealer, so they are now covered by my 7 year/100K ESP plan.

Bottomline: New cars depreciate quickly & these dealers in PA (or anywhere else for that matter) that are blowing sales because of bad attitude are missing the point. My dealer made a very reasonable profit on the car, and likely made MORE on the F&I and parts/accessories. Any dealer that misses the point that MORE profit is earned in F&I and parts/accessories should probably not be in the car business. New cars depreciate quickly & it won't be too long before you will have no problem finding 05, 05+ mustangs w/o any pricing nonsense. I've already seen several 05 GT coupes w/ MSRP of $29K+ (all the factory options) being SOLD by their owners with under 2K miles, full factory warranty intact, for $25K. These cars not but 6 months ago were probably on some dealer lots at $33K+ with the 4 grand GT 'market adjustment'. Car dealers IMHO are really "F&I emporiums" when it comes to new cars. That department IMHO is where the dealers keep their chili pots full - not on the sale of the actual new car itself.

What do you do at Pitt? I'm always looking for a job that will get me back to the 'burgh.

PS. I'm a computer nerd.

words n' stuff
I hate dealerships with a passion.. in Michigan.. there is no problem getting dealers to ok discounts... probably because everyone in their family works for one of the big three (mine included).

Just wish you could just go to the plant and get the car you want.. like you used to be able to do and then also avoid that lame destination charge.

I ought to scan my window sticker and post it. I kept it. First car I ever owned where the sticker actually had my NAME on it from the factory on the factory window MSRP sticker in the pricing column! (of course, this was my first ever special order vehicle!). Besides getting a decent price & not being hassled on the discount, that was a neat trick I thought!!

I'm a Systems Analyst for research projects. In a nutshell, I develop the software the researchers use to collect data.

Just go to Pitt's home page and check out the job postings. There's always a ton of jobs available here and I believe you can apply online now.
