Dead

Had a scary moment the other day when I was at a gas station filling up my 2006 GT (that's painful enough these days). Got back in the car, turned the key and ... nothing. Everything is dead.

Popped the hood and noticed the negative battery cable was ever so slightly loose. Not a lot -- you couldn't tell by looking because it was sitting nicely on the terminal -- but I was able to wiggle it a little and jam it a little farther onto the terminal.

Got back in the car and had power again and, so far, everything is fine.

Has this been a common problem, or is this a symptom of a more serious issue?

never heard of that problem before. any chance u previously removed the negative terminal for some modding? thats the only reason i could think of for such a loose connection.

I've never done anything under the hood. Car has only about 1,000 miles on it, and I might have opened the hood a grand total of five times since I got it. Maybe it was just loose out of the factory.

I assume that that is a possiblity. I would take it to the dealership, and at least have them check it out, and put in a claim for record purposes. And if something more significant occurs, you will have that claim on file, and they should check it out under warranty.

I wouldn't sweat it, just tighten it up if you have not done so.

It couldeve been the dealership that unplugged it. I remember last time i was over at a dealership this one guy was unplugging the batteries and using this machine to check if the batteries were working properly.

They also will disconnect them if they are in the showroom, usually the porters do it
