Not harmful, but what do you mean "cut out"...do you just mean you removed the muffler? or did you do some cutting to the muffler itself?

Shouldn't be a problem. I know people who have placed a pipe through the muffler to make it a straight-through so they don't get a ticket if they get pulled over for not having a muffler.

Don't the SLP loudmouths basically replace the muffler with a section of pipe and a polished SS tip?

Shouldn't hurt anything but you'll have tremendous drone by not exhausting all the way out the back of the car.

Exhaust leak could possibly get carbon monoxide in the car too.

You'll most likely just get a headache and a ticket at worst. Man up and go get the Loudmouths if you want that "no muffler" type exhaust.

I'm not a big fan of super loud exhaust on cars that don't run in the 9's.

It always amuses me at the track when a car barks and howls down the strip to a mind-boggling 13.167. Its also kinda funny when you can't completely blow the doors off another fast car like an M3 and you sound like John Force on the interstate with them right next to you.

actually i did this and had zero drone in the car. with my motoblue r/s mufflers on there is 10x more drone.

I was wondering same thing about mufflers...i went to flowmaster site to do some research...

"While the design of our mufflers may look simple, it has taken years of hard scientific research at Flowmaster to develop our patented technology. By using the pressure and sound energy released from an engine's combustion chamber, our designs use the energy to scavenge, or pull, spent gases out of each cylinder more efficiently than even an open pipe system. This improved removal of exhaust gases out of the cylinders promotes a more efficient charge of unburned fuel and air to fill the cylinder for the next cycle. The result is improved power, as the engine has a purer mixture to burn, and improved fuel economy as less fuel is now required to achieve the same level of performance. But it's not just the performance gains that make Flowmaster mufflers unique, it's the sound they produce. Our rich exhaust sound is created by Flowmaster's patented noise cancellation system, where exhaust sound energy is split and directed through slightly different paths. Where the paths merge, the two parts of the sound energy are out of phase creating noise cancellation, much as two ripples colliding in a pond absorbing each others energy."

So looks like a good muffler is better then none at all...

flowmaster claiming to "pull spent gasses out" more efficiently than a straight pipe is nothing more than a bunch of BS. If you want to pull gasses out of the heads more efficiently you have to start at the exhaust manifold where the atmosphere changes drastically from that of the cylander. headers that are equal in length, collecters that gradually change from four pipes into 2 and then into 1, an efficient means of equalising pressure between the two exit pipes, and the temperature of the pipes staying very hot all play a role in efficiently drawing gasses from the heads. just a set of mufflers, or none at all will not make much difference. eliminating some backpressure may have an effect on low end torque, but show me the numbers and prove it. I know quite a few race teams that would have a pretty good laugh at that muffler ad...

remove the muffler and put some nice big tips on those pipes if it makes you happy man! I did, and it is one of my favorite mods. not to mention cheaper than any mufflers out there.

oh and my car does blow the doors right off an m3.

Borla claims the same, however borla makes some B.A. LT headers.

A company that only makes mufflers, supports the use of mufflers?!?!? You must be kidding me! They must want to turn a profit or something. Greedy bastards.
