I sent you a private message Jeff, but I wanna say again how awesome you've all been over this. Like I said you guys have brought me back from being stressed out over this to dreaming about what song I'll play on the stereo as I pull out of the lot when it arrives.

(Highway Star current 1st choice, Speed King coming in 2nd...I think Deep Purple probably has the car-song market cornered for this one!)

Hey, Metal Mustang!

You know...why not fly to PA? I mean, I know it costs money to fly, but I'm sure you can save that up by the time your new 'Stang is built. If the price of avoiding a severe case of buyer's remorse is that of a simple airline flight, isn't that worth it? If someone told me last year that to go back and change everything, all I would have to do is buy a plane ticket, I would have jumped at that!

Not only that, once you pick up the car, you get an excuse to take it on a long drive and break it in!

Oh heck yea! I remember tearing down the highway at 120 smoking a cigarette at 2AM on the way to see the girlfriend (now Wife) quenching my thirst with gasoline!

Now I'm an old boring Dad type, but that song does bring back some great memories!

It's not at all off topic, but thanks for the fine police work! If you read the entire thread you will notice the Op say "Like I said you guys have brought me back from being stressed out over this to dreaming about what song I'll play on the stereo as I pull out of the lot when it arrives." Anyone else got any suggestions for great songs to pull out of the lot listening to?

Tim

Dan, it sounds like Jeff's on to a winner there...

Oh and how about "The Boys are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy...?

Well...Looks like I'll be putting this on hold for just a little bit...having some "financial slowdown"...some unexpected expenses and a job review that'll be a little later than I expected. It will determine my first raise so it will heavily effect what kind of payments I can comfortably facilitate so I'm stuck waiting before I can make any decisions.

Glad I didn't place the order early and get ahead of myself!

No worries Dan. Better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to order something you can't afford a few months down the line. When the time comes, and you can't find a dealer to take X-Plan, let me know. I got the okay to do a "drop ship" order. You would just have to find a dealer in your area who would want to do the "courtesy delivery". They usually charge a few hundred or so to do this. Good luck on your review.

Yes, I did dude. Went right out with family after work and didin't get back till late late. I'll shoot you a PM later tonight with prices for you via X-Plan. If you really want to do a drop ship order, you gotta find a dealership who would do the "courtesy delivery" for you, and for how much? Some places don't mind it, some don't want to deal with them. I'll explain later tonight, after I get back from a show.

Same here dude. Not to get the thread too off topic, I was at a show last night and some particularly punkish kids were admiring a Mustang that always does really well at shows, but to me looks like a "buy-it-now" special gone bad. Of course the kid asked "is it a stick", to which the owner replied "of course, who would buy a sports car with an automatic". I could not help but to blurt out "how about most drag racers?"

Anyway ignore those fools with that kind of attitude, everyone's entitled to their opinion but there's nothing wrong with having an automatic in a "muscle" car. I can drive a stick as well as the next guy, but don't measure my stick based upon whether or not I own one.

Hey MetalMustang.....not that I would want you to choose a Mustang that isn't exactly what you want, but it might be worth searching on Forddirect.com to see if there are any '08 Stangs with the options you want, seeing how huge the discounts are on an '08 if you can find one. ....unfortunately, the only Grabber Orange I saw in Dallas (I checked a few dealers) had a manual trans (at Don Davis, out by DFW). However, Jordan Ford in San Antonio did have a Grabber Orange GT w/auto and $4K in retail customer cash. Here is the link if you are interested:

Not to hi-jack the thread or anything, but I thought I would provide some insight on the whole custom ordering thing. At first, I tried doing business with a few nearby places, but all I ran into were rude, clueless dealers that just didn't seem to want my business. This was my first new car purchase at the time, so I wanted my car with specific options, colors, etc. Well, I stalked this forum for years and did all my homework and ended up custom ordering my 2007 GT to my exact specifications from ISELLFORD, a former forum member (who several around these boards know of and have purchased from). Only problem was that his dealership was in the Twin Cities, but I was located in New Orleans at the time. I didn't worry though, because he was an old pro at ordering and delivering vehicles, and he made me feel right at ease.

Anyway, my point is that the entire transaction was painless, and I received exactly what I ordered. The whole drop shipping method was a piece of cake. I, however, would suggest calling around to several neighboring dealerships for the best "courtesy delivery" price. The differences can be drastic! Like Jeff said, some places don't mind doing them and only charge a minimal amount, but others consider the whole process to be a chore and charge you an arm and a leg, as a result. Furthermore, Jeff seems like the same kind of knowledgeable, friendly dealer that truly wants to make you happy and get you the best deal at the same time, like ISELLFORD (Ed) was. I'm thinking about getting a 2010/11 in the future, and, if so, I won't hesitate to do business with him!

Hey BigMyke, thank you very much for the kind words. I tell all my friends and people I meet at car shows I attend with my GT. I am a car nut who happens to sell cars. I always say, its best to buy a car from someone who has the same passion the buyer does for the car they are purchasing. And any of my Valley Forge Mustang or Bad Pony Club members will vouch for my enthusiasm. When I leave work on a Saturday, I leave in the Mustang (I bring it most Saturdays in Spring and Summer) and head right up to a cruise night or car show. I really enjoy meeting new people in the hobby and checking out their cars. Heck, I did over 60 car shows last year, and went to Canada for a Mustang Club of America National Show!! I LOVE IT!!! I've been on here for over 4 years now, and since Ed (ISELLFORD) moved south and is unable to come on the forums (I do know him from the business. He is a SUPER GUY), I kinda became the "go to" guy for questions, insight, problems, pricing and anything I can do to make sure forum members get a fair shake on a new Mustang (or any car for that matter). I've been doing this job for 11+ years and still love it, even though it is rough right now. I just hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel. All I do know, I will never leave the site and love chatting with fellow members. I can do it at work and have no issues with my boss. They encourage me to post up on here and help out.

I did the same thing to find my Mustang. INTENSE serching. Like 4 hours a day intense searching till I found the "one". Took about a month.. It was close too. Only about 125 miles away..

ALSO he had already put on FRPP lowering springs, honeycomb rear panel, agent 47 mirrors, CAI, and lighted blue Mustang sills. It's like he was reading my mind, those were my first mods on my list. If I could have ordered a brand new Mustang, and spent $1000 modding it, I would have ended up with the same thing, it was very cool.

So what I am saying is it COULD happen. You have to look hard, far, and wide. Mine was a 7 hour drive away, and the ad was a poorly written ad at a small online ad site, without pictures. I TOTALLY lucked out. I also had been looking for a month before I found this.
