Okay, not quite sure how it happened, but I managed to get one of my concepts against a curb. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS!! The rim seems to stick out further than the tire, tire isn't scuffed but the rim is in UGLY shape. Not bent, but needs to be sanded/polished bad.

Can't believe I did this. What a ROTTEN DAY!

That's too bad... if it is not badly scored, you can probably have it re-finished for like $150.. it happens, don't let it get you down

I don't know how bad the shape is... but I've done it to a few tires in the past. (usually the rim/edge), and those tires were quite meaty. I think the lesson is give solid object wide berth.

Soory to hear about your wheel.

Ford offers tire/wheel road hazard insurance for about $300. I bought it with my new GT for that very reason. Since I have scraped a couple of rims in the past few years, I figure its better to have the insurance.

There's companys that repair wheels back to like new. Turbax and Wheeltec come to mind. If you need it, PM me and I'll get you a phone number. Ususally costs $100-$140.

How much damage is on the edge of the rim? Just a rough edge from rubbing up against the curb? If it is more than this this may not work, but I've taken 180-600 grit sandpapers and sanded the edge to like new condition on the '99 5 spoke wheels I had after doing the same thing. You probably should give this a try and follow up with a metal polish and I think you'll be suprised at the results. It is easy to sand the aluminum.

Good luck.
