Crash Test Problem with Mustang Convertible
There was an article in last Sunday's Chicago Tribune about the Mustang convertible having a problem in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests. Below is a quote from the article:
"In the Mustang's frontal test the driver's door "partially opened." The institute said Ford engineers found when the window was down the glass pressed on the latch, allowing the door to open.
A Ford spokesman said the automaker had not seen the problem before but began modifying the doors on models built after June."
Has anyone heard about this and can the modifications be retrofitted?? My 'vert is driven with the windows down most of the time, so I would like to fix this issue if at all possible. Thanks.

This was at about 30 mph, blew the drivers side airbag, $12,XXX + in damage, no problem with the door, in fact no damage to the door. If you are worried about your door flying open in a crash make sure you have your seat belt on. Who cares what happens to the door then.

Short story, see other thread on "Valet trashing my car", Was at a club, valet returning my car and got his foot caught on the gas when braking ( have Ulitmate pedals installed) saw the front end dip but the RPM's climb. Slamed it into the back of a Blazer, then pushed it into a Taxi.
At first had trouble with locating the ins. co. then they would not return any phone calls...got an atty. involved, in mean time looked for a replacement hood ( 68 Shelby). That came in early July, dealer has a new body shop built with better paint booth so waited for that to be done....And Nelly got his Jeep painted before my stang. Go figure.
Now just waiting for the call.
