Yeah they should push production of the Vert back to Sept.

That way it'll be rolling off the line when it starts snowing in Flat Rock, right about when people are dying for verts.

Ahhhh. I remember arguing this point to the death months ago. Finally a n00b I like.
I gave this up for two reasons, one cost. But more importantly at the Atlanta auto show, the gentleman at the BMW exhibit pointed out something to me I hadn't yet noticed. Even though retractable hard tops are actually quite old, saw one on like this fifty or sixty something ford. Lately we've only seen them on two seaters, and putting them on a 2+2 would be complicated and inefficient space wise, not only that, but it would make the cost even more ridicoulous than at already is.

Ford invented the retractable hardtop and put it on a 57 full size Ford. Ford through out its history had a top notch reputation, on making a first rate vert!

WHEN GM VERT BALLONED WITH SPEED, FORD VERTS KEPT SNUG AND ALWAYS LOOKED GREAT. TOP UP OR DOWN.

Now if someone from Ford reads this! Look to your heritage to help make the new vert as good, as the design the 05 Mustang itself!

In other words "don't screw it up!"....................

I'm sure the attention to detail they put into the rest of the car and the extremely low percentage of parts carried over from old models, that the top design will be fantastic, whatever it is.

Since aftermarket makes everything nowadays i'd say there is a 70% chance of there being a retractable hardtop. I'm getting it when it comes out.

VB....you are the man

7:3 odds, yea im likin that one too, im sure someone somewhere could do it, but why would you pay the pile of money it would take to convert it to a hard top, when you could buy a Lexus or Mercedes new? I know the 2005 Mustang is a beautiful car, we all know that, but to spend a couple thousand on top of what you're paying for the car, man, id love to have that kinda income

You can bet that will be unique. That will be pretty cool to see though.
But it would most likely take a while for them to come up with something like that, if they do.

I'd bet 80% of all verts sold are in southern states or SoCal that never see snow. Where they're built has no effect on what time of the year they're built. They may stay in Flat Rocks for maybe a week or two max. I wish they would push up production of the Verts to the same time frame as the coupes. I'm sure it has something to do with the assembly line though.

I am fine with a regular classic type "rag top"vert. I don't need anything fancy. And I like the look of a soft boot if its designed right.........................................
