Well, the guy who I thought was going to buy my car has flaked out and now I can't get the mustang. What really stinks is it arrives today, Mineral Grey GT, bullet wheels, red leather and IUP (with the colour gauges). Some lucky person is going to be driving my spec car.

Even if I had sold my car, payment were going to make things pretty tight. 2 young kids, mortgage, payments for a 2004 Sport Trac and one income all ads up to a lot of $$$. Add a new Mustang and I could get stressfull. I might have to wait for a used one to come available.

I get another pay raise in February that should help too, so I guess I have to wait. Seeing those cars slowly arrive is killing me

You can always trade in your vehicle.

Yeah, I can't get one eitheer myself. I've got a leased truck that I'm upside down on, plus work is getting kind of unstable right now, so I also have to wait.

But time is on our side, maybe later on in the year there could be more options offered, and perhaps rebates.

Or buy an 05 in August and get a discount since the 06's are coming in......

Trade in amount offered was just far too low. Due the great deal on the Mustang, there was no room on my Z24.

See what Car Max will offer you. They're usually pretty good on their offers.

And you're making the smart move to not get the Mustang if your finances can't support it. Better to live without it than to have living difficult with it.

To bad trade in isn't an option for you... This is one car that I wouldn't figure on getting any year-end clearance prices on though....

Well that's a bummer! But hey! look at the bright side. If you sell it out right yourself, You will get more for your car, than what the dealer will give you. As far as the 05 goes, let it go! 06's will be just as nice, and probably with more options. [ 18" wheels ... intake cover.... diff. colors, etc.]

Plus, by that time, most of the bugs should be out [if any]? and it will give you plenty of time to get ready for it without getting into a financial bind.

Hard to enjoy your new car that way! Some of us are going to sit in the bush and wait............. [including me] Why not jump aboard?

Some thing to think about. If you trade your vehicle in you only pay the differential in tax. example: If stang = $25000 and trade in = $10000 you are only paying the taxes on the difference $15000. So if tax is %8 you are paying $1200 in taxes rather than $2000. So you are really getting $10800 for your trade in. That may help a little. I dont know how much you expect to get selling it on your own.

Truthfully though if you cant afford it dont get it. When you have kids expenses add up quick. Wait a few years and get a used one. Thats my plan. I have three young ones and I know how you feel. I just got a new truck for the family and at least its nice as well as practical. When I can afford a trophy stang for myself you know I will be all over it.

Its tough for me to hold back seeing that my dealership is finally getting a black GT.

Stangdreamer, you are very correct, but my trade is only $2900, so we are not talking a lot of tax savings. You are in the exact boat as me, except with an extra mouth to feed!

So do you get a tax credit for the amount they give you for the trade in or trade in minus loan. For example, my car is worth $12-13k, I still owe about $8k on it, will I get the full $12-13k tax break, or will it only be the $4-5k?

I am pretty sure you get the full tax break. I just went through a similiar transaction when I purchased my truck.

As much as I hate to wait I am going to until 2007 this is when my Focus will be paid off and then I will have options of either getting a new GT or used 05, 06.

I might just get a used one, keep the focus and store the GT in the winter.

I could get a V6 but after driving my Fathers 05 GT I am going to wait and get a GT, plus I can always go over to my parents house and drive my Dad's whenever i want to keep me sane

Ah Ken, how did I know you would get on here!!?? I talked to John today, he is still trying to work something out. My car (was my car) was shipped to the interior by mistake, so it will be in Vancouver on Monday.

See you at the hockey game on Tuesday. I am going to take my frustration out on the ice, watch out!!

You could also look at it this way, the car you get in o6 or o7 will likely not be suffering from mysterious squeaks, rattles, knocks, rear end vibrations and cd eating sound systems any and/or all of which could and likely would have equaled hours and hours of unwanted and un-reimbursed dealership time. Add to that the fact that in a year or two you are going to pay a much more reasonable price, depending on where you live of course, than what you are likely to pay now. Figure a low mileage o5 in a year will have depreciated some 4 to 6k. A year old premium gt with some miles for 19 to 21k is a much better deal to me than a brand new one for 28k. And if you know someone who can get you one at auction then you are doubly blessed.
