Convertible Top Adjustment
Convertible Top Adjustment
I need to somehow adjust the right side of my top because there is a 3/16" gap between where the top gaskets meets the windshield header gasket (the gap is visible in the door window opening).
I did a search here and googled it but didn't come up with anything except some guesses like adjusting the pins (can't be done, they are fixed). With that said, I would like to hear from someone who actually done it or get a copy of the Ford instructions. By the way, the top work perfectly so I doubt there is anything bent or damaged. The top was replaced under warranty in 2007 (my car is an 05).
Thanks!

take it back likely they didn't know it was a convertible , like when I took mine in they said I didn't have a cabin filter😨 I walked the so called trained tech out there & showed him how to access & retrieve it.
Take it back where? The top was replaced under warranty at a Ford dealership eight years ago. I really would like to hear from somebody who actually adjusted the top frame or get a copy of the OEM instructions.
My top was destroyed by an idiot window tint installer in 2008 (long story). When I replaced the top, I was going to do the install myself until I saw the sheer number of washers, bolts, grommets, and other hardware pieces that came in the box.
Asked the dealer for help, they told me that even dealers don't want to touch a convertible top. I got several stern warnings from about three of their techs and a service manager that if you get one adjustment wrong, you can destroy the frame which was NOT included in the box! They recommended a local upholstery shop to do the top replacement. I was told that all local dealerships used this guy.
Long story short, IMO you'd be better served finding out who does this sort of repair in your area (maybe by asking your dealer like I did?) and take it to a pro. I'm sorry if this answer is not helpful but that is what I would do if I needed the type of repair that you do - and I'm a handy guy who isn't afraid to tackle repairs.
