Convertible Availability
[FONT=Arial][SIZE=1][COLOR=#0000FF]
This is my first post so forgive me if I screw this up.
I'm looking for any specific info on when/where I can place an order
for an '05 GT Convertible.
I just dropped a line to Crossroads Ford in Cary, NC and got a reply
back real quick saying "there will not be a convertible available in 2005".
That dude's wrong, right?
There's lots of dealerships around me so I'll be checking with them too.
And I'm having a hard time finding specific info anywhere on the web.
Thanks!

To quote Kevin- Kick him in the ding ding.
Then go find another dealer.
Vert Production begins 1/31/05......So yes, there is a 2k5 Mustang convertible.

Convertible starts production on 1/31/05. Other than that, I'm not entirely sure about when/where you can place an order. If I remember right, many of the specs of the vert can be found in the Order Guide, which you can download from the 2005 timeline page.

Placed my order three months ago at Jorden Ford in San Antonio, they told me that I would be there first convertible order sometime in mid november. That is when the dealers will be allowed to begin specking out your convertible. P.S.
They chopped a 1000$ off msrp for the early order,so don't wait find your dealer and cut your deal now

Yeah, that looks awesome. I'm thinking triple black.
So I go to another dealer today.
Lady walks out.
I say I wanna know anything she can tell me about ordering or pre-ordering an '05 convertible.
Lady gets that 'deer in the headlights' look.
Lady runs inside.
She re-emerges 5-10 minutes later and says "production is going to begin sometime in Jan or Feb and as soon as Ford allows us to start placing orders, we can take yours".
"When will that be?" I ask.
"Well as soon as Ford let's us know" she says.
"When will that be?" I ask.
"Probably sometime in December" she says.
Is this the conversation that should've taken place?
Somebody suggested maybe we (i.e. I) should consider ordering from one of the well-informed dealers here. (Kev and somebody?)
I'd need to look into what fees and what not apply to buying out of state.
I'm in NC.
Suggestions?

Ok, so are dealers claiming to be able to place orders now lying
or does Ford pick and choose which dealers can order and when?
If there is a dealer I'd be willing to drive to who can order right now,
then I'd like to talk to them.

Dealers can "take" orders whenever they want. Dealers can't "place" orders until Ford opens the order bank. For a convertible, I believe the order bank opens in November (if I remember correctly).
It's just a question of how good the dealer is. The good dealers will take your pre-order, keep you on file, and then place the order when the order bank opens.
I'd suggest double checking in late November, just to be sure they did place your order.

Hey everyone, I already placed an order for one of my customers for a GT 'Vert Premium on Sept 6th. Factory received it on the 8th. On the update sheets for ordered vehicles, it has listed "MAT HOLD" or "Material Hold", which means they are not scheduling the cars since it isn't available yet. There is prices on the "vert though, so if any other dealer says you can't order it until Novermber or December, they is lying. Just trying to help out the masses.
That is a great chop, nice work!
I'm considering the '05 Stang Convertible, and that is the exact color I would look to get. Only thing is...that car would look so much better with 18's, I'm considering waiting for an SE. 18's, IRS, and a 6 speed, now you're talking...
