I completely agree. I never liked "Fox body" Mustangs in the slightest. I always thought they looked dumb and cheap and generic. I never gave them a second glance.
But with the redesign, and after reading all the good things they did with 2005+ model line, I had to buy one.

Don't insult the Fox body mustang, it was the best mustang ever made before 2003.

Man I miss mine so much. Had two '88 LX 5.0's.
One of these days I'll have one again.

Ryland, great post.
I am with you. I have not liked anything after 1970.
The fox bodies were ok. Just not something I would ever want.
They were designed for a different generation.
Styling and performance are respectable.
I got my first pony in 1978. 66, with pony interior.
I have had one ever since.
The '05 is number 6 for me and I bought a '66 coupe 6 years ago that I have only driven 50 miles this year. She is very lonely and my wife is asking me to sell her. I don't think I could do it.

I think it's to each his own. I mean it has to be with your own generation. I was a guido teenager of the 80's cruisin up and down Central ave. racing all the cars, and there was alot, and I mean alot of Fox body stangs out there. That was the car. Now the younger generation have all these rice burners with this retarded muffler that sounds like a tool or something attached to these gocarts. But thats my opinion. I like the exterior of the 60's stangs but never really wanted one. Now IMO the 94-04's I really thought were crappy (except the Mach 1 I liked). Now I had 5 Foxes 85,88,92,93,93 and my 6th is an 06. Now we have a modern day classic. Retro styling with classic features! What more can you ask for.

Have always loved the 69-70 stangs and never thought I would see their greatness again. But yet when I saw the 05 roll out, I knew one must be mine.
Picked up on Wednesday and perma-grin still firmly attached. Now to jump on the list of Mods that allready is huge.

I had an 89 5.0 coupe before (and for a little while after) I bought my 05 GT and really liked it. The coupes are just so plain-jane... love the sleepers! I sold it foolishly thinking that I didn't need two V8 Mustangs... what an idiot. I miss the car like crazy and since the kid I sold it to blew it up, I really regret letting it go!

I had a '65 notchback (ex girfriends) '86 GT, '89 Saleen SSC, I had to sell the SSC to buy my '05 GT (NO REGRETS)
imo fox bodied Mustang take the right mods or color combo to look right, they play a very important part of the Mustang legacy.
I dident like the new for '94 Mustang but after that style matured to the last 5 or so years of that style I was turned around. the Bulitts and Mach 1 and Cobra kick butt in performance and they look great if you try not to look at a '05
want a 2005 notchback? take a look at a black convertible with its black top raised "and squint" if they make a white vert top, same goes for white car

Well in 1985 I sold the car I drove in high school. (69 fastback new)
my big mistake! My 05 mustang gt has given me a second chance to relive feelings of days gone past!
Thanks Ford for building it!
Now for sure, I got to get hold of a 69 fastback to restore!!!
Happy Trails!!!
