completely new to the diablo predator

tomorrow ill be getting my taxes done and if all goes well, i should be getting back around 2k. trying to decide on what mods I want (also want to get a new laptop but thats besides the point). Id like to go with a predator tuner but I am a total newb when it comes to computer tuning so just bear wtih me.

When I recieve it in the mail do i just plug it in, set whatever tune i want (octane wise) and get up and go? is it that simple? Also I have installed a K&N CAI on there, do i need a special tune for that?

And ofcorse the warantee issue. i really am not that concerned about it since i try to do all work myself anyway but i just thought id throw that question out there. Can i just reflash back to factory settings before going in for service?

im sure these been hundreds of posts with these questions and im sorry if i am just repeating every single word in those posts. im just lazy and didnt want to look itall up.......atleast im honest.

1. yes
2. If the K&N hasn't thrown your car into limp mode then you should be fine.
3. It saves your factory settings, when you take it in... you have to reinstall the factory program. (it swaps then out)

I was as tenative as you at first, don't sweat it....

PS: if you want a bigger kick in the pants, get a C&L racer intake or any of the others that say... (requires tune)

hypertech is the only one I have seen that has a menu of SEVERAL of the popular intakes to select from when building your tune.

My option was the C&L Racer with DiabloSport 93 Octane Tune and MotoBlue UDPs from RPM Outlet. The whole kit sells for roughly $600 and you get about 30 Hp. You can always sell your K&N to someone who is shying away from tunes. The DiabloSport tuner is self explanatory. My Wife has an 06 GT Vert (Redfire) and she did her own tune while I attached the CAI. Together we had her car done in about 19 mins. It takes longer to unpack and read than it does to install. There's a little baggie with two screws that you MUST use with the C&L, so don't try to put the stock screws in...READ First!

DiabloSport recommends reputable tuners on their site and Doug is one. Doug is the guy on here that supports all the tunes that have proven to deliver dyno-proven numbers. I'm not a dyno guy, so I bought the package from the internet and did it in my driveway, but if you have any hesitation, buy from Doug or CR and you'll be well supported.

I'm in the same boat here. All my mods are cosmetic, but I'm itching for more hp. If I get a CAI that requires a tune, do I switch it out for the factory setup when I take it in for warranty work? Is that really feasible? If the CAI is so easy to install, is it a cinch to uninstall as well? I was thinking on a CAI that didn't require the tune, so all I had to do was switch the tune back, but if you guys change out the whole works easily, then it would seem that that would be the best scenario. Is C&L and JLT still considered the best? What about Airaid or AFE? Thanks. There are so many threads already on the subject that wading through them is tiring. Another honest one .
