Hey Guys, that popping in your front in is the Front strut tower and if it gives way, your screwed. I just ordered two of the new type strut towers last week. Part # 5r3z18138a. My old one blew apart and I had to rebuild it. It is actually made of ABS plastic. I could not answer why! I also had a problem with leaking from the hood area into the front of the car and filling up the front floor boards. I taking it in this morning for a water pressure test so they can find the problem. I let you know what they find.

Leak on rainy days - Will post what it was when I get a resolution at dealership tomorrow..

Popping front end. (Ford is working issue.)

Paint seems very sensitive to impacts by road debries. (I avoid freeway driving during rush hour and take back roads-good excuse to go for a ride a bit longer!).

1. Popping noise in the front strut.
2. Gas tank

Both being replaced/fixed Thursday. Dealer had to order a new gas tank.

Mine was built on March 5. The only problem I notice in 3 weeks and 650 miles of ownership is the fuel tank filling problem. The second fill-up I pumped in the gas slower and it filled okay, and shut off when full. So maybe that isn't a big problem, as long as I'm doing the filling...

Shaker 500 seems great, no gear whine on decelleration, no popping from the struts.

I did notice wheel hop when turning off the TCS and spinning the tires on a wet road in 1st and 2nd gear. Will probably get the BMR Lower Control Arms to fix that.

I have the front strut noise, as well as a leak in the passenger side rear window. Also, anyone notice that the engine fan ticks when the clutch disengages.

Major rattling noise when starting car upon cold startup but they installed the 2 tranny bolts and that did not resolve the issue. Shaker system head unit is garbage. Paint chips easily, then again, aluminum hood is soft.
Dangerous to drive. I am too busy looking at all the people pointing and jaw dropping. I can't pay attention to the road

The only thing I've noticed is that at high speeds, there seems to be some road noise coming from the rear passenger side window (the fastback window). I can't tell if it is from the window itself or what but it almost sounds like the windows aren't rolled up all the way. Otherwise, almost 1,000 miles and no other problems.

Oh, forgot my biggest issue. Driving 60 MPH and had a 40MPH crosswind and the hood was lifting so much I had to slow down. Didn't want it to blow off

hey thanks - I will let the dealer know what your dealership found. My dealer is also calling in a leak expert this afternoon.
I suspected it was coming from around the windshield or floor pan..

thanks for the info!

Geez, I usually have my climate control set to the Defrost/Floor setting. I figured that the A/C wouldn't go on unless I push the button. I will check and see if this is what I am hearing. If that's it, I was wasting gas since I owned the car.

Just a heads up here, haven't noticed if this has been addressed in another thread or not.

Gas filling issue is a know vent defect and requires a replacement.

Passenger side rattle is a know PS airbag defect and also requires a replacment.

Both of mine are being replaced this Wednesday the 13th

Here are all the common problems I have heard/read.

1. Shaker CD Player skips. (I have this - who DOESN'T!?! lol)
2. Hood shakes at high speeds exceeding 120+ MPH. (I have this)
3. Upper strut bearings "pop" while turning the wheel at very low speed. (I have this)
4. Bad paint job. Chipping, hazing from the factory, and other strange flaws. Repairable with a clay bar/touch up kit, but it's extremely annoying. (I have black - I have it, obviously)
5. Gas tank filling/overflow problem. (I don't have this)
6. Windshield stress cracks. (I don't have this one)
7. Water leakage. (I don't have this one)
8. This car is too freakin' cool! My g/f is jealous! Everyone with a fartcan wants to race me! (Everyone has this one )

I just drove 100 miles at 85 mph on an extremely windy spring day and I had no hood probs with my GT... Now, the hood on my 2002 and my 2000 GTs shook like a leaf going down the highway. I was afraid that fake scoop was going to come through the windshield.

Try going 85 miles at 100 mph in the wind!

I didn't have any hood shake below 110 mph. The corners seemed to vibrate.

Here are the problems that I have had with mine.

1- Gas tank fill up problem.
2- Gear whine on decelaration - I'm assuming this is normal for this transmission, as my '02 GT did the same thing.
3- Rattling within the dash on the passenger side - it doesn't come up enough where the dealer would actually hear it. Maybe it is related to the passenger front airbag.
4- Airbag warning light came on. They had to replace my entire instrument cluster.
5- The springs in the left side of my seat creak like an old sofa on occassion - I brought it in but they could not replicate the sound.
6- Shaker 500 skips when listening to CD's on occassion.
7- I like this car so much that I just can't find enough opportunities to drive it.

The seat back in my '99 was replaced 2 times because it creaked like a worn out lazy boy every time I leaned back in the seat. I think it was in the welds. It stopped both times when they replaced the frame.
