OK my car gets built this week and I see some problems that seem to be common with the 05 GT. I was wondering if everyone could chime in and I could get a list so I'm ready when and if it happens to mine. Here's a start:

1. Front strut tower popping sound
2. Shaker system skips
3. Gas tank filling problem

What else?

Vehicles built after Jan. 1 that have the active anti-theft system have the global open feature turned off. If you want to be able to open your windows with the key or remote you'll need to have it turned back on by the dealer.

Crappy paint. Chips easier than anything I've ever seen. 11,000 miles on my '05 Camry, not a single chip. Less than 3,000 miles on the Mustang and already over half a dozen chips. I've got the fuel problem and an occasional squeak on my IUP equipped dash near the passenger side. Those don't bother me too much. I've also got the gear whine during decelleration, but I actually kind of like it. That paint though, it's irritating.

The heat shield is missing 2 bolts and causes a whining noise when starting up in cold weather. ....

Hood shakes at high speeds, esp. in windy conditions.

Yeah, I have some nice sized chips in my front end too.

Another problem some people have had is 2 missing bolts from the lower bell housing.

I just drove 100 miles at 85 mph on an extremely windy spring day and I had no hood probs with my GT... Now, the hood on my 2002 and my 2000 GTs shook like a leaf going down the highway. I was afraid that fake scoop was going to come through the windshield.

I can second the hood shake problem, and I know I have read some threads on here about that problem as well. I was only doing about 80 when mine started to shake... it was a windy day though.

Try going 85 miles at 100 mph in the wind!

Not completely accurate---mine was built 1/12/05 and that feature worked upon delivery---windows roll down with the key or remote, not reset byl the dealer.

Early builds had gear backlash apparently set incorrect. Causes gear whine noise upon deceleration from about 70 to 40 mph. Dealer recently ordered gear set; going in next week to have installed.

Rich,
There are a lot of common bugs in these cars you have some of them.. and some not so common I've had all of them except for the fuel tank and the rear end whine!!! LOL
One that is not as common is the water leak while driving in the rain I only know of 4 of us that have had that one...Who knows you may have some of your very own...LOL but the car is well worth it...
Woody1.. Did they order you a set of 4.10's gears for your rearend ??? There good for building neck muscles.. LOL

Leak on rainy days - Will post what it was when I get a resolution at dealership tomorrow..

Popping front end. (Ford is working issue.)

Paint seems very sensitive to impacts by road debries. (I avoid freeway driving during rush hour and take back roads-good excuse to go for a ride a bit longer!).

The IUP cover for the airbag not aligning correctly. Dealer said they would replace my airbag when I take it in for 3000mi service.
