Man, that's cruel to do that to a Mustang - of ANY year, but especially to an '05.

UGLY! Definitely not something I would even consider.

This is a joke, right?

Hmmm...Well, it would be less prone to rollover than the Sport Trac! But, on second thought...NAHH!!!

I can see where George & Co. are coming from... Provide some utility for people who want a performance car but need to carry some summer sports gear.

But I think the association with a "Ranchero" concept does more harm than good for a Mustang. I would think a stylish usable box grafted onto a good performance mid size car would hit the mark better, like the 2 seater Australian Falcon Ute. It both looks good and there are some very high performance versions available.

I think this is not too practical for a Mustang since the box would be too small to carry much. Probably not even a bicycle. A better idea to increase utility might be to go with a 2 seat detachable 3rd door hatch concept. Maybe a detachable deck for a 2 seater convertible version so it still looks like a Mustang on weekdays.

BTW I think it is good that someone is coming up with these kind of creative ideas since it provides opportunities for us to comment on what we like or dislike for future Ford concepts.

Dare I say it?? This looks like something GM would do. Ford would never even CONSIDER such a dumb idea.

Call GM though, I bet they'd do it if you catch them on the right day.

HEY!! Better idea! Take all those GTOs cloggin up the lots and cut up up into pickups. The GTOSUV. Maybe THAT will make em sell.

I now see a ton of SSRs just sittin' Chevy dealer lots.
As far as Sport Trucks go..."Give us the Lightning or nothing!"

The ugliest car awards goes to:

in third place the new cadillac SUV

in second place the Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible

and the winner is the new Ford Mustang Variant called the Horse's ****! A unique blending of the shortest of bed pick up trucks and an American icon.

And you know the first variant will be a 4x4. :notnice:

the honorary runner up...

For the man (or woman) who just HAS to be first.......

How about boxing in the rear compartment and making it into a hearse? Imagine a black GT hearse laying rubber en route to the cemetary???? B)

There is a reason why they don't make the Ranchero any more.
I see here a reason why they shouldn't bring it back.
