Comercial is FINISHED!

I think there was something like 12k cars sitting on lots. Not cool.
Makes sense. The two dealers I spoke with in the early part of the year were not aware of the new Mustang. Further upon my giving them some information about the 2005, salesmen, independently, at both dealers said that they would probably not incentivize the 2004 to move off the lot - - claiming that the 2004 would become a real hot car

I guess they failed to plan, as others have failed to plan, if 12k cars remain.

Maybe it really is him.....you know like the Fred Astaire commercials from a few years ago.

That would be very cool to use McQueen's video in new commercials, but there's just something morally questionable about using a dead guy's work without his consent.

They would have to get consent from his estate.
I'll have to check out that site about the commercial

The only movie on the horizon I'm interested in seeing is "Friday Night Lights." It would be awesome to see the commercial in the theater, and a welcomed surprise. :headbang:

Ford paaaayyyyeeeedddd all the royalties for the estate! From what I understand its a computer image of him until the actor throws him the keys. I dont know if any one has seen the lay out for the comercial but Ill give you a quick run down. Starts with a Farmer who goes out to the corn field and plows this path, then he goes to the barn in the pic swings open the doors and there is this beautiful Stang. I belive Red Fire Pearl...? He starts the car great exhaust note! drives it out the track pulls it to a line and shuts it off and gets out, start to walk to the side of the corn field and out walks Steve. The farmer throws him the keys and he hops in and then its Buillit all over again!!!!! :worship: I cant wait to see for myself. The comercial is slated for Mid November.

Just to set the record straight about the whole look-a-like thing. They used a double so they could then super-impose footage of the real Steve McQueen in post production. I'm sure it also helped the actor who starred in the commercial opposite Mr. McQueen, react to more than thin air.
Apparently the commercial is based on the movie 'Field of Dreams' which starred Kevin Costner. In that movie, the Costner character builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield after hearing "If you build it he will come." In this commercial a farmer (played by a Canadian actor who is said to look a lot like Tom Criuse) decides to build a race track in his cornfield and out of the corn comes Steve McQueen who then takes the farmer's new Mustang for a spin on the track.
It has been rumored that this cornfield spot is the largest, most expensive commercial shot anywhere in the world this year. It's supposed to be airing starting late 2004 as a regular 30 second commercial on TV in the US, Canada and overseas, but is also expected to be in movie theaters as a 2 minute short film as well as a Superbowl commercial.
Steve McQueen is back from the dead! (and I envy the actor who starred in the commercial with him...what a great gig that must have been)
