Anyone about 5'4 or so driving an 05 stick. Im concerned about being too close to the steering wheel so the clutch reach is better. I like to sit back and be comfortable. My other option is an automatic trans and that would be my second choice. Any ideas??? Everytime I go to a dealer to sit in an 05 it's either sold or none available.

This isnt meant in a bad way, but that will be an issue to anyone who has short legs(any height) As long as your legs arent too short for your size then you are ok.

I built my clutch petal out (closer to the seat). I like to sit where I can pivot my right foot between the brake and accelerator with a my knee only slightly bent. In doing this, I was to far back to push the clutch petal to the floor. So I built the clutch petal out 1-1/4 inch.

John, it is easy to do. I got everything I needed at Lowe's. Parts: 2-4"x4" metal electrical box "blanks"; 4- 1-1/4 inch bolt & nut & lock washer; 4 - 1 inch plastic spacers.
-Take off the rubber pedal cover
- Make a pattern of the clutch pedal, by tracing pedal
- Transfer pattern to metal blanks
- Cut first blank to match pattern (this will be used to place rubber pedal cover back on)
- Cut second blank to match pattern but leave six tabs equally spaced around the blank (these will be bent around clutch pedal to secure built-out pedal)
- Bend "blanks" to conform to clutch pedal shape
- Drill four holes to allow for bolts and spacers
- Attach the parts: first blank ... spacers ... second blank with bolts and nuts
- Attach rubber pedal conver to first blank
- Attach second blank to clutch pedal by bending tabs around pedal
This process built my clutch out about 1-1/4 inch. Different lenght spaces could be used to obtain desired build-out. I painted the piece black to blend in with clutch pedal assembly. Took about an hour and a half.

Hugo: Thanks! I'll be doing that if mine ever shows up. Every time I get on this board it seems like there's more delays. I saved your directions for when the time comes. :worship:

I have a telescopic wheel in my current car, so I pushed it all the way to the dash so that I'm used to it by the time I get my '05 Stang.

You going to let your girlfriend drive your stang? Are you nuts? Let her Daddy buy one for her to drive!! Tell her no and you will get a lesson in true love . Another good one is No smoking in my new car.

Hi Hugo,
I finally got around to trying your clutch pedal extension and I have to say it's great. Thanks for the idea!
