climate control question

since there is no more "issues" section ill post it here, when i set my vents to blow out the bottom of the dash, it still blows air out on the windshield. it doesnt do it as much as if its set to blow floor and windshield, but when its set on floor it doesnt just blow on the floor. is it supposed to do this?

Ford says it was 'designed' this way. I always like my face nice and toasty while my feet are freezing.

I had issues with the heat/ac as well. Id set it to defrost and it barely blew out. My control unit was crap and I took it in for a look and they ordered and installed a new unti under warranty. Seems to be a common issue. Have it checked.

well it still blows out a lot on the floor, i just dont see why there is a setting for floor, and then floor and windshield, if they both do the same thing.

This was an 'issue' when the new 2005s came out and is still an issue today. if Ford actually fixed it they would have to install new controllers in all the existing cars too. So they just tell you it is supposed to be that way. Horse puckey, its a design flaw that Ford will not fix as it costs money to do it right.

My solution, set to Hi-Lo and close dash vents. Works better than setting to Floor and it doesn't have the annoying noise you get out of the dash area when set on just Floor.

Here is a link to another post concerning this issue, I have the same problem with my 07 but havent had time to take it in yet. They say you have to have the control unit replaced.

If you have the control unit replaced and it actually fixes the problem, please let us all know. So far no fix is known.

Kinda like the Global windows.

And yes I'm STILL bitter about that.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

The control unit for the '05-09 is this:
https://www.fordonlyparts.com/2005-2...-8r3z-19980-a/
As an EXAMPLE ONLY, mind, but that seems to be the going rate (about $50 as of this post) for a used Mustang (or other compatible model) HVAC control unit. The unit has the *****, lights, switches, and the logic circuits in it, complete. You can find this part on various websites, including a new Doormat one at AutoSloan which I'd never, ever buy because Dumbman unless I had no choice and wanted to spend four times as much for the privilege. You can also maybe go find one in a salvage yard out of a donor car they have, as long as it's 2005-2009, as they're all the same (I think... not sure about the nav ones...)

Hope that helps, good luck!

@houtex I might point out that the 2005-2006 HVAC control unit is different from 2007-2009. I remember this because Silver Horse Racing made aluminum ***** (that I have) that weren't compatible with the 2007+ units. There was a plug/wiring change as well.

Hahahahaha "Doormat".

Hm. Interesting. I wonder if the change is the ***** only, and otherwise the module is the same...?

Ford does Ford things. I still hate I had to cut my perfect wiring harness to swap out a Ford blower motor in the HVAC. It works, and it's the Ford part, but maaan...
