Which classic mustang is the S197 most like?

I'd like the opinions of some of you on this. I build model cars, and I'm ordering a model of a 2006 GT that I plan to build just like my car is, and I also want to build a classic mustang and paint it the same was as the modern car to show just how close they are styling wise. So, my question is, do you think a '66, '68, '69, or '70 mustang is most similar in overall appearance to an S197?

69-70 mach 1, not the newer body style which is more like a Toyota Celica.

I'd say the front end of the original style S197 resembles the 1969 Mustang, From the doors back along with the roof line and quarter windows 1965 -1966.

The 05' - 09' was designed to appeal to all '65 -'70 enthusiast. Excellent marketing and design if you ask me.

My Pony Package front reminds me of a 65, the sides a 67, and the rear a 70.

Yep, for me the '05-'09 is closest to the '65-'66 models.

The 2010 took on more of the agression of the '67-'68.

I'd like the '15MY to become the new '69/'70........or another (more accurate) stab at the '67/'68, as I still don't think they went far enough.

To be honest though, it's possible to see bits of '65 through '70 in all S197s.......and that's why I love 'em
