Changing steering wheel

Just came across MOMO's web site and saw some steering wheels.. to be honest, wouldnt mind having a couple of those. except you give up the airbag and cruise control. anybody know of a steering wheel that takes that all into account? ..or is it too tedious for aftermarket manufacturers to do..?

I doubt it would make much sense. I couldn't imagine not having the IUP steering wheel in it.

I don't think you could find an aftermarket manufacturer who would even contemplate integrating with an SRS system. The liabilities would be insurmountable in this day and age. **** lawyers!

(This post is not intended in any way to detract from the many nice lawyers who do good things for the common good on a daily basis.)

Actually, Grant will do a custom job for you. But, they do start with a complete SRS base Mustang Steering wheel, and you have to give them back your's (ie: sizable core charge) when done. I just happen to be discussing this very thing with them right now.

Those lawyers only exist on film and TV, not in real life...

If that's Stangnut's wheel, I believe that he was thinking about selling it a few months ago. Might want to PM him if you are interested.

Any details you'd be willing to share?

At one point I was thinking about a group buy with Alliance (Tom), but never could get enough folks to plop down this kind of cash for a steering wheel.....I'm still saving......

Depending on the color combination of your car, the GT500 steering wheel can look REALLY good. Obviously, it probably wouldn't look best in nole trainer (blue interior) and yellowGT (yellow exterior), so this post doesn't help them too much.

Also, I don't know if it's worth the regular price for it (all you get is red stitching, some thumb "rests", and leather upper spokes/graphite lower spoke), but if you can pick one up used it's a another story.

Just my 2 cents

I'm sure its only going to be a trim variation. Ford already has wasted millions over the years putting different steering wheels in every car when other manufacturers use one or two for everything. They're starting to get the import cost-effecient trend of sharing door handles and steering wheels now. Hopefully they wont be like toyota, using the '91 camry wheel in '06 highlanders though...

I think the stock wheel sucks. I want a quality wheel, but it looks like I will have to buy a nice MoMo and have a machine shop build me a hub.
