changing 1 tire pressure sensor?

This figures. I just had my girlfriends 07 roadforce balanced and finally got rid of the shimmy and the driver side front sensor band breaks the next day. now would I be able to replace that sensor with a valve mounted style and leave the other 3 alone? I was looking at one from rockauto that said it uses the OE relearn process so I wouldn't think it would be a problem. any suggestions would be appreciated. The dealer wanted $220 to replace the factory sensor/band.

put a piece of black tape over the light that comes on in the dash. Then fix it the next time you need to fix a flat or replace the tire

I had two broken bands in my '07 with less than 10,000 miles on them. Definitely replace all 4 and be done with it. Get the high end valve stem type that can be programmed right to your car. I have had zero issues with mine and they will be good for at least 5-7 years apparently. The cost was about $200 total this past Xmas.

American Muscle sells a stem type TPMS sensor that is compatible with the earlier 07-09 cars. I don't know if I'd call them high end, just a different mounting location.

only bad thing about the stem types, they require more wheelweights opposite...we run ferrari/amg wheels at work that use stem types, they relief cut the wheels for balance of the tpms...the volt/cruze wheels have lightening holes in the back of the hub, they leave 2-3 undrilled for tpms balance...

I swapped one sensor in my wifes 07, band didnt break, sensor just died- was able to just break the face side bead, pop halfway off and replace the blue sensor that way, but it was really tight getting hands in there.

you mentioned the band broke the day after having work done- did they break the beads down for any reason? some 'better' tire guys will spin tires on the wheels if large amounts of weight are needed, but any time the beads are popped theres risk of banging into the sensor/bands...just wonder if the 'work' is why the band broke...

That's the first thing that popped in my head, the foremost issue is technician error. Besides the strap being tight, the cradle is backed by an adhesive tape which by itself is fairly capable of holding the cradle to the wheel. (as my old man demonstrated when he ran for a few months without the strap but with the cradle still attached via the tape).
