CDs stuck in radio, any hope getting them out?
I have an 06 with the Shaker 500 radio. I guess the CD part died, radio still works fine.
Every time I get in the car I can hear it trying to move the CD mechanism.
Only thing display shows is "CD Error" when I try to use it.
At this point I'd be happy to just get the CDs out and use the radio only.
Any ideas how to eject them?
Thanks

Here's info I used to remove the radio. Between the 3 links it covers it all.
They really gloss over the elecrical connection removal, you'll need to take your time and make sure to depress the right plastic so you don't break the connectors.
I removed the radio, removed the CDs, and reinstalled the radio in about 1hr.
Radio still works, and the CD mechanism isn't constantly trying to initialize. So I'm happy for now.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and noticed a lot of them, and a lot of newer CDs are using thinner plastic-only about .004~.005" if mic'd, but enough the friction rollers that retract the disk wont pull it out...try ejecting with the interior really hot- sitting out in the sun, etc...I have a couple disks with those "CD Stomper" self adhesive printable labels that work fine now, wouldnt eject but barely without...
I had one that was at the slot, wouldnt quite eject enough to grab, pulled the battery cable off before it would suck it back in, was able to put a piece of doublesided scotch tape on a utility knife blade to drag it out by sticking it on top of the disk... the mechanism wasnt very well thought out.

You have to pull the unit and dismantle the carriage device in there. It's not too hard. Just a couple of springs and screws. Chances are that one of the trays in it is busted. Most likely this is what's going on.
Here's a bit of info when I ran into it.

There's another thread that discussed this. May be worth looking into. I remember it because I laughed at how simple the fix was... Maybe the mods can remember it. I wouldnt rip the unit out just yet.

There used to be a pdf on here with instructions, but it looks like the link is dead now. You'll probably have to google around a bit, if no one else here has it already. If you can find it, let me know and I'll tell you as much as I can from memory. It's really not very hard.
