I was thinking the light grey interior might look good with a black carpet in place of the light grey carpet...similar to the way it is on previous gen mustangs and current gen 350zs. Check out my primitive photo chop.

Do you think this would cost a lot or be a lot of work? I know the seats would have to come out but the center console and preimer trim should be easy to take out. Also, as for the oem price of carpet I tried to check for the previous gens to get an idea of the price but couldn't find it on ford parts websites...

I don't think carpet kits are really that much, maybe a couple bills. And yeah, the only hard thing is having the patience to take your car apart.

Like the idea, it would be a nice improvement. If your seats have side airbags you might wanna research how to remove them without the airbags going off.

Your Idea Looks Great, but it's gonna be alot of work, and I'd rather not take any Interior trim out of a Brand New Car, you're just asking for squeeks and rattles. Maybe when it came time to replace the original carpet i'd go with Black, but I've never had to replace the carpet in any car I've owned.

I was thinking of just Adding Black Mats to my Grey Interior when I get it, like they add the Red Mats with the Red Interior. That way it compliments the Dark Inserts in the Doors.

I'm defenately getting the black mats too, this is just if I want to take it a step farther. I was almost thinking about bringing it to a good bodyshop to replace the carpet. Those guys rip apart trim all the time and as long as they'll warranty against future squeaks what's the worst that'll happen (beside's loosing some $$). Besides, people rip out interior trim all the time for things like new sterios, amps, and alarms...it's a new car now but at some point it's gonna happen...

While the seats are out it might also be a good time to slip in some aftermarket seat heating elements and power them via the power seat harness

That black carpet would definitely look pretty purdy. If your gonna do that you should probably keep the gray mats, just to keep with the color scheme.

There's probably all sorts of little things you could switch up with the black interior.....like the those little covers around the power window switches and maybe the plastic bases around the lower portion of the front seats. I like the idea of customizing your interior with all oem parts...

What got me thinking about this was the saleen mustang with the light grey interior with charcoal leather seats....cool looking but that's a little too expensive!

I think your photochop looks fantastic! If it were me, I would want to do it right, right from the start! Choose Premium materials for your quest. I would recommend going on the Porsche message boards and asking about suppliers, they have alot of experience with this. Try www.pelicanparts.com it is a good site with good people and will help you source some excellent quality carpet for you car!!! Good luck and keep us posted!

It's good stuff...but unfortunately I think the carpet needs to be preformed to the conturs of your floorpan. Most aftermarket companies focus on classic mustang carpets which is why you might have to go oem for a late model...

I would be truly amazed if there were an aftermarket company already selling 05 carpeting. Just order it from the dealer.

Exactly, carpet is simply a part you can order like anything else. Just be carefull to order the right one, dont use your own color code! :bang: or youll get the same stuff.

Its a PITA time wise to do it, but not rocket science, just save all the hardware carefully, I usually tape it to the part with masking tape as I remove stuff.

You can always wait till the hayes manual comes out (if it hasn't already) and make sure you go about it correctly, step by step...
