Has anybody else noticed their carpet coming apart where the **** is in front of the seat to hold the floor mat in place?
My car has been babied and nothing has been done to the carpet, but it is tearing where the **** is punched through the carpet. I think I'll have to insist the front carpet is replaced by the local dealer or it's going to look terrible in a few more weeks.

I don't think I've ever seen as cheap a grade of carpet in any other car.

The carpet is definitely not the best, but all they would have had to do was re-enforce the carpet where the hook is and it would have never torn. You can't just punch a hole in the carpet with that little post and not have issues with it tearing.

Gotta love those Ford warranties and service departments.

I would basically go to a different dealer or raise holy heck at that one and demand to speak to the Dealer manager and if you don't get any satisfaction there then demand to speak to someone at Ford.

They were saving money not weight.

The carpet is pretty awful really. VERY thin I expect it to wear out within a few years... if that. Then I'll just have it recarpeted at probably a doozy of an expense.

I would go back to the dealer and explain this is a warranty issue. Obviously it is a defect. My car has actually 7709 miles on it and I've had it 10 months, so I don't exactly drive the heck out of it. The carpet was coming apart within 2 months at 2000 miles.

I was not happy with my carpet from day 1. It's just so thin and cheap.

I took mine in to Paradise Ford in Cocoa, Florida and they took a picture and contacted the ford rep and I am getting the carpet replaced under warranty. Mine only has 7000 miles and the hook is completely torn out of the carpet. The service department there has been great.

so im not the only one with this problem!!! i was so sad when it happened, cause my stopper thing tore off completely! i've been meaning to take it back before it gets worse!

it is under warranty though? i thought maybe they'd just say it was wear and tear?

The bumper to bumper warranty should cover the carpet hook if you forced the issue. It is obviously a weak point, and should at least longer than a year of normal use. I've had seat covers and cushion replaced under warranty on my 99 that were definatly worn out by me.

yeah i've only had my car for a year and i couldnt believe that it just came of so easily!! i had never really noticed how thin the carpet was til you can see right thru the hole in the carpet!

i think i'll go back to the dealer to have them fix it though, i got a couple of other things for them to see as well!
