Car wont start after airbag deploy

I was in an accident. my airbag deployed, driver airbag. the damage is not bad, so i decided to do the repairs myself. the problem is, the car will not start, there was no damage to the engine so i don't understand why it's not starting.

where is my question:

1. is the car not starting because the airbag deployed.
2. does mustang have a safety circuit that prevents the car from starting after the airbag deploy?
3. can i replace the airbag and reset the module myself?

PLEASE HELP!

i think there is a sensor behind the air bag that shuts off the fuel pump and the ignition, if you reset the fuel system with the switch that is near the foot rest on the driver side, if that does not work then maybe just fixing the sensor will work if not you will have to go to ford to get it fixed for you

Should have to just reset the fuel cutoff switch.

Ira is correct.

There is an inertia switch that shuts off the fuel pump in case of a frontal impact. If you hit something hard enough to set-off the airbags then you most likely also tripped the inertia switch.

Re-set the switch as Ira described and you should be back in business.

You ought to read the aluminum driveshaft thread. Might make you rethink fixing something like this yourself if you arent sure wtf you are doing. Some things arenbt worth saving a little $$ over. I would assume insurance would pay for this too but GL either way.

I would not recomend trying to fix an airbag yourself unless you really know what you are doing.

If you hit something hard enough to deploy the airbag there's a good chance there is more than just cosmetic damage.

Fuel switch should do it.

FYI, our cars dont have them, but some cars have explosive charges to blow off the positive batt cable after an impact with airbag release I believe.

I would say zero chance of an explosive charge anywhere near a battery as unless its sealed the battery gas can explode then..

In all honesty, if you don't know of something simple like the fuel cut-off switch, I wouldn't recommend handling an explosive device, or installing safety equipment like an airbag. Sorry if it sounds like I'm being a jerk - but that's my honest advice.
ICAR would also recommend inspecting and/or replacing other equipment after the deployment such as your airbag sensors and control module.
