Hi, has anyone else checked out the car sponsorship sticky? Is it the usual custom to have to pay $89 fee to get a sponsorship? I am clueless on this issue. Anyone have any info???

I MADE 15 BILLION DOLLARS BY DOING NOTHING FROM HOME!!!. A++++ WOULD BE SPONSORED AGAIN!
Anyway, my general rule is, if you have to pay to get "paid" it’s a scam. There are few exceptions. I would hope Brad has researched this before posting it here. So I would think its ok. I am definitely letting someone else try this first. I did a quick search and it sounds like you have to put a HUGE sticker on the front of your car. That’s a big no-no.

I have been in the electronics business for over 25 years (currently at Rockford Corp). Most free stuff is really a trade out between non competing companies. We give amps and woofers to a company that gives us wheels and tires. Free stuff only goes to a very few key dealers or competitors with winning history. Deeply discounted stuff goes to people who have good pre-existing experience. Some discounts are available to just about anybody that will actually follow through and take the vehicle to shows.
There is no company that is interested in how many friends you have, or how persuasive you are. Sponsorship is for people who will attend several key events located across the country. What the companies want to buy is the perception that "everybody" is using brand X, Y, or Z. The way this happens is to have a large number of vehicles at a particular show that feature your product. The best example is a brand called Audiobahn. They have been very succesful in creating the image of a big brand through product placement.
Bottom line: if you are really qualified to get free stuff, or even heavily discounted stuff, the manufacturers already know who you are.

Who is this comma guy?
I can just see it now, you sign up, they tell you:
Great news! You've been sponsored! take the money and send you $500.00 worth of stuff you DON'T want, from a manufacturer you don't want to "Display" on your car.
Too many loopholes and CC info up front does not a good feeling make.

I agree. Who's going to be first so Donna and I can see whether you get ripped off or not?

Thanks Granstdale for doing all that work! I hope they are on the up and up and nobody loses any money, but I am so jaded and have trouble trusting something like this. If someone does go through with it, I wish them the best of luck and hope it all turns out well for you, and please post how it goes for you.
