Car came in with something missing

I had ordered a GT/CS vert back in January and I went to the dealership today. The comfort group and Sirius were missing. Even though I was sitting right there with the salesman punching the order codes in, somehow these two things were missed. Now, I don't know if I should re-order an '07, keep this one, or just wait for the '08s. If I reorder an '07 it'll be 6 weeks away and I might miss the incentives plus with the 08s just around the corner, depreciation is an issue. If I wait for the '08s I'll miss the spring and summer with the convertible. I was interested in the HID's on the '08s though. Any input?

Get the car the way you want it!

Go with 08's. Either way you lose 4K just driving off the lot with depreciation, but to drive off the lot nearly 11 months after they came out will really not help the value!

I disagree... I say negotiate some sort of discount because they screwed up, and take the car. You get your rebates NOW and you get your car NOW.

Not to trivialize the comfort group and Sirius, but I don't think you will miss them - it's not like you ordered a V8 and got a 6.

Nuh, nuh, nuh.

You don't miss no god-danged incentives! You're not the one who frakked up here. Work out a deal for the car that came in. Otherwise, get the car you wanted, and make certain you get it for the deal you first negotiated.

Otherwise, take your business elsewhere.

Just my 2 cents.

The incentives are set by Ford and not the dealership. He might miss out on any rebates that are being offered by Ford - only good at time of delivery.

I'd just push for a fat discount of some type. Just my $0.02. You don't care about Howard Stern that much anyway.

I would definitely get the car the way you want it. Are you planning on keeping the car long term or just for 2-3 years? If it's long term then your never going to be happy unless its EXACTLY what you wanted and then you will have regrets. If it is long term I would try to reorder the '07 since its a CS I think it would be neat to have the first production year down the road several years, it probably makes no difference to many people but I would like it if it was me. I would also give them hell since it's not your fault if they cant work out the rebates then they need to eat it at the dealer. I know your disappointed and cant wait to get in your new baby but If it was me I would insist on exactly what I ordered, no exceptions. Good luck with whatever you decide, and if you do reorder make sure they get it in with a low priority #.

You and I both know that the dealership has final say on the "deal." If they can't give him the same Ford-sponsored incentive package, they can sure as hell give him an equivalent deal...or something close to it.

I go to work early AM and I use my heated seats almost every morning. Granted I wont use them in the summer I still like them allot. And even though I could live without it I do like having the compass. Of coarse none of it is a necessity but if it does appeal to you why not get what you want.

I had a simular experience but in reverse. I didn't order the sirius or comfort group, and the car I ended up with has both. Eight weeks after I ordered, my car didn't even have a build date yet. I still don't know the real reason why. Don't care now. I had the dealer do a search, and he found a car for me that had everything I ordered plus the two options you're missing. He gave me the two extra options at his cost and I took it. I could'nt be happier. I would still be waiting if I had waited for the ordered car.
So, I would think about doing the same thing if I were you. Have your dealer find you a car with the options you wanted or you may regret it. I can take or leave the sirius, but I'm really glad I've got those heated seats. If you order another car, I know it's a gamble on the incentives, but my guess is they will continue. They usually do, especially as the next model year aproaches. If you re-order, you might also see if you can get the highest possible priority number, that might speed things up a bit. Good Luck, Carl

Heated seats in Florida? LOL, that struck me funny......

Anyway my advice is to get the car you want! Don't settle for less and if you really want those options, don't tell yourself that you can live without them for less money or else you'll just drive yourself crazy wishin' you had them in the long run.

Power passenger seat (part of the comfort group) was a MUST in my purchase so that Mrs. DAVISinLA could see over the dash!

I also use my seat heaters...yes, it gets cool at night here in LA too!

Yeah it does seem funny but I go to work at 2:00AM and it's been pretty cool here in the mornings since I took delivery in late '06. If I worked more "normal" hours I might rarely use it in Fl.

I see I had heateded seats in my last car and loved them. I also miss them in this car. I used mine in the summer from time to time depending on how my back feels. Power passengers seat would be a big plus also. See if the dealership can install them for you.. As far as the compass I would rather have some sort of hand held gps or gsp or what ever its called.
Good luck what ever you end of doing

I would negotiate for a better deal. I would not expect them to jump through hoops. But I bet they work with you.

When I got my 06, I had an 06 on order which got bumped to an 07 because of a dealer jerking me around. In the end, I called about 30 dealers and found the exact car I wanted, the only thing it was missing was the upgraded alarm. And I got a slightly better deal on it.

It worked out better for me too. I was trying to order an 07 when there was not many details out about the car, I had no way to view colors, options, etc. For example, the first run of 07's that my dealer ordered all came in with 3.31 gears since they did not know they had to specify 3.55's for 07. If you order an 08 now, you are ordering blind.

I wish my 06 had heated seats. It gets cold here though at times. The other day it was 7 degrees here in NJ.

I did not want a power passenger seat. Too much addl weight. Besides, I am single so no one was nagging me to order it. I usually do not order that option in sports cars.

The self dimming mirror can be added easily with about an hour labor. No big deal. Ask the dealer to add it on.

Isn't the sirius also availible as dealer installed?? Ask them if they can order the system and do a factory type install.

Personally, I still shake my head whenever I see a car with sirius because of that stupid hockey puck antenna on the trunk. There is NO reason why they could not have put the antenna inside the car on the package tray or uo on the dash somewhere.

I have installed a few nav and sirus systems, the antennas are no where near that obtrusive.

I love my heated seats. It's been a brutal cold winter in NYC but my tussy's been warm!

I live in Central Florida and when I got my car I was "I will never need heated seats." But I have used them quite often in the early morning. Also I like to turn on the passenger side when my son is not paying attention.

Maybe dealer will install seat heaters?

What are the comfort grp seat heaters like? I have seat heaters now in another car, which will be going when I get the stang, and I do use them a lot. I got the nav so the compass mirror's no big deal. I was just wondering if I could ask the dealer to install seat heaters and the sirius in for me at no cost and maybe just pay half for the install. I'd like to see what the actual comfort grp seat heaters are like though.
If I do decide to re-order, how do I make sure I get a high priority code?

The seat heaters are decent (the one's in my wife's Acura are better). They go off in 10 minutes, but do a decent job of taking the chill out. Of course, you may get different opinions from others in colder climates than mine.

What you WON'T get is the power passenger seat. If you don't want to hear complaints from short passengers, it's a must have.

I'd reorder. Since it seems like the error was Ford Corporate's (and not the dealership), reorder and have the dealer contact the regional management to push your priority to 01 (Highest dealership assigned priority is only 10). - this is usually done when a car is wrecked in transport, or it comes in incorrectly (like yours) - you should get it much faster than 6 weeks, imo.
