Canceled Order......
#1
Ok I've got myself into a little problem here. I ordered my GT on 11/22/04 and still didn't get a build date as of last Friday. So being that I was pissed when I talked to my dealer I said cancel the whole darn thing. So I call back Monday morning and was like look I made a mistake and was just frustrated. The sale manager said that she canceled the order at 8:30am which sounded funny because she doesn't come in till 1pm.
Well she said that she put it back into the system but it might show as being ordered yesterday. I need to see who I can contact from Ford in the Baltimore area to get this fixed. I want a Mustang GT and 16 weeks without a build date is a joke.

If she cancelled your order then had to submit it as a new order, you might as well start searching for one off a lot somewhere. I really hope you didn't take yourself out of line after waiting all that time! :bang:

Why would you stay with a dealer that didn't do more for you? Not getting you a build date in 16 weeks is not customer service. That's total BS.
If you really want it then find a dealer anywhere and be willing to travel to pick it up.
Can you take time off long enough pick one up in another state, even if across the country, and drive home?
I'm from Essex originally.

If they enter a new order but put your order back in the line of priority codes will the order date really matter? I thought ford pulled orders based on priority code and not by order date, maybe we need a friendly Ford dealer to set us straight on this.

If you do look across the border, the GT situation in Canada is much better than south of the border. One of the large dealers around here has 20 gts on the lot, and are charging a little less than MSRP.
However, I do'nt know how hard they are to import back into your country. It is very difficult for a Canadian to buy an American car, and import it themselves into Canada. I suspect it might be more trouble than its worth.

I agree that 16 weeks without a build date is ridiculous, and I would say your Ford store there locally is LYING to you. It is probably getting close to the '05 cut-off, and late orders may be looking at an '06 model from what I've been hearing. Do you have any money invested in this order you placed? If not, then leave it in the system while you try to locate one in another city/state.....and if you do, GO GET IT.

Well the deal is for $450 over invoice. I don't think I'll be getting that anywhere else. At the time I placed the order at Len Stoler I could have bought it at Towson Ford for the same price. My friend who ordered from Towson Ford around the same time I did received his Mustang back in Feb. Needless to say I'm looking for Len Stoler to pickup the ball and get this deal done for me.
If anyone knows the information for the Ford district rep in the Baltimore, MD area I would appreciate it.

Me thinks that priority codes vary from dealer to dealer as to what value they actually have.

Maybe its a good thing ... at this late date perhaps its time to consider moving to buying a 2006 model or if you like the new SE's that will be shown over the next few months (the shelby cobra mustang gt500 whatever other name you may think of to add to it svt should be shown tomorrow) and you may be enticed to delay till one of them is available.

Well I'm not going to pay MSRP for the car and thats what dealers around here are asking now if you get past the markup. I made a deal back in Nov. that should be honored. If they thought that was something they couldn't do then I would have had a car from Towson Ford by now.
As for the Cobra or SE versions of the car they might be attractive but I'm set on a GT. I think it will be the best bang for my buck because I like to tinker and mod a car to make it my own SE.

i think i may have replied and said nothing, sorry.
i used to sell chevys and i also ordered them for the dealership, in the chevy world, once an order is placed and accepted, there is no cancelling, it is built and shipped to the dealer.
so if Ford works the same way, your car will be coming.

I'm not trying to flame you here, so please don't take it that way. It's clear your dealer has an allocation problem. I'm not sure what you think the District Rep will do for you now that you told the dealer to cancel the order. I hope he/she is able to help, but I wouldn't count on it. Just my .02

I have to agree with outdoorstorm on this one. I'm not quite sure why you had the order cancelled and then decided you didn't want it cancelled .
I think we can say with confidence that by "cancelling" you order you've effectively had your claim to the car removed and the order will now end up in dealer stock. I doubt the dealership would cancel the car order because they can easily turn around at get MSRP out of it.
I know my dealership doesn't require deposit or intent to purchase contract since they know they can turn around and sell the car in 24 hours without a problem at MSRP.

Well I didn't expect it to go into effect so soon. I really think they have been screwing with me since day one because they have had a few GTs with IUP as dealer stock as well as a vert since I ordered.
I guess I'm looking for some assistance higher up from Ford because I've seen it work for a few people on the site. As much as I hate to say it I'm not a person in this area you want giving your dealership bad word of mouth and I'll leave it at that.

Not trying to to be holier then though. But, if you think the dealership is messing with you move on. There are plenty of other dealerships that I'm sure would welcome the extra business. There is no reason to stick with a dealership unless you know someone that works there or are sure they aren't screwing you over.
