Can you chirp the tires from a dead stop (stock, auto tranny)?

Some stock (no tune or performance mods) auto tranny GTs seem to be able to chirp or even light up the tires from a dead stop, while others seem to have the dreaded throttle lag and can't chirp 'em. That makes me wonder whether those with the throttle lag have some sort of fuel pump issue or other problem.

So, I just want to get a sense of what percentage GT auto owners can really chirp or light 'em up form a dead stop. This means no brakes applied while stomping.

From a dead stop flooring the gas peddle with no brakes applied I can spin them off the line.

I was able to chirp from a dead stop. Without using the brakes, it's small but it would definately chirp some. Had less powerful cars do better off the line burnouts though, like the grand am I rented a couple years ago, it was front wheel drive 6 cyl and it would break traction very easily. I think alot of it has to do with how good the rear suspension is in the new Mustang.

Get a SCT xcal tuner from Bama chips and you won't have any more throttle lag, you'll be able to peel out like a pro and chirp the tires all the way up to 3rd.

Mine will chirp with TC on, smoke em with it off. Of course, it has been 100+ here, so that may be a major factor.

That has a lot to do with the weight shifting to the rear... off of the drive wheels.... and probably H rated tires.

Front whell drive

Cavaro, I'll bet that would do wonders for an auto tranny...

Totally stock stick and I can chirp with TC on from dead stop in first and while accelerating on the 1-2 shift.

TC off, I can smoke the tires.

Yeah even with TC on if I stand on it I could do it. I'm modified now so it's easier to do but as it is I typically ease it out of the intersection a bit before accelerating as I like my tires.

yeah... I have this problem where I chirp the tires.... a big long 5 second chirp, when I do U-turns... even with the TCS on. ... can't figure it out.

Nevermind... I figured it out.. I have a manual.

Auto Mustangs are notorious for that nasty throttle lag. An after market tune will have you broiling the tires to your heart's content

I have BFG KDWS 255/50/17s on my auto, and i get a good chirp from a dead stop. I don't get 10 feet or anything like that, but a good 2 feet or so.

Everyone I've driven will do it. The auto V6's are real bad about spinning tire at even half throttle.

There are a lot of factors to consider in this poll. Like temperatures outside, tire size, and altitude. Here in 96 degree weather with 235/50/zr18's I couldn't.
