Yes, a hand gun. No, you don't need a concealed carry permit to have it in the glove box or the center console. I can show you the statues if anyone is interested. I am willing to put my butt on the line because I know this is fully legal in my state, so please no "You have to have a CCW to carry" arguments. That was why I was being vague, trying to avoid an argument.

I love FL for that reason. 19 years old, and I can have a hand gun in my car "enclosed in a container with a lid." Can't get a CCW permit until I am 21, so this will suffice, just like it does now in my truck.
If you want to try to avoid arguments, you should preference it with "in my state". Its illegal without a permit in CT, as well as many other states.

It's legal for me to carry a handgun in my console in Florida? Woo hoo! I didn't know that! I've got a 9mm that will fit right in there!
That reminds me. There's a Beretta 92F at a pawn shop not far from here that I want bad. The guy wants 575.00 for it. Too much for a used gun even if it is in cherry condition. He's had it there for months now. I offered 500.00 cash and he said no. What a jerk! :bang:

Unlike your Mustang, that Beretta 92F will go up in value. Get it. But don't go to a pawn shop...

haha! I've got a s&w model 59. Chrome-plated. 14 in the mag and one up the pipe. I would love to have that Beretta though. Looks brand new. Comes with a case and an extra clip. You know, I wouldn't mind payin' what he wants if he wasn't such a snobby jerk. I'm not paying for lousy customer service!

Well, since we are talking about gun brands, I am personally a Colt fan. Got a 1911 that I LOVE!!! Talk about the ORIGINAL American handgun maker.

Oh wow, a model 1911. I'd love to have one of those too. My dad had one with pearl grips. It was really sweet.
You think we're going to end up in trouble here for getting wayyyyyyyy off topic? lmao!!!!

Yeah...my dad bought me the 1911 as a gift for law school graduation. That is how much of a redneck I am. I was wondering when we were going to get some give a stern "Back on Topic" message myself.

Maybe its just me, but I find it just a TAD scary for the need to carry a handgun in your car....

...and maybe not the handgun itself, but to need to carry that said handgun.

19 and access to a handgun in a car. Sounds like a receipe for disaster. Drive through Texas sometime. You will be arrested, lose your hog as evidence and your Stang will get impounded.

What do u need a gun for? Horn not loud enough?

Wow, a gun topic on a Mustang forum... cool. I've got a FL CCW permit, and yes, you are OK carrying loaded in the console even without a CCW. I don't think any citizen NEEDS to carry, but if someone is willing to take on the responisbility, more power to you. As for road rage, to my knowledge, there has not been a single incident in FL regarding someone with the permit. It all goes back to the main idea. Criminials break laws, law abiding citizens have the right to defend themselves if necessary. I hope and pray that if I have a family member ever with their life in jeopardy, that there's a CCW nearby. They can be your best friend in a time of need, and they're more likely to be there then your local PD.
And thanks for this post, I was wondering the same thing. My G26 will fit just fine!

A gun in your car in Texas is fine and dandy when you are traveling. Can't remember for sure if it's atleast 2 counties or 3 counties from yor residence. Most officers are reasonable when it comes down to it. Unfortunately there are some who would lock up their own Mother. My gun goes anywhere I go but I also have a nationwide license.

How do you have a nationwide license? Are you FBI? And please do tell, you've got me curious.

I'm just trying to figure out what's being said here. 17yr old Iraqi terrorists killing our troops? 17yr old Iraqi's fighting the terrorists for their freedom? Or do we have 17yr old troops over there?

I didn't know we had 17yr old troops over there. I thought you had to be 18 to enlist. Am I missing something or is this a Michael Moore rumor? I'm not picking a fight, but I'd really like to know if that's factual. Maybe they've changed something? or maybe I'm just naieve?
