I just went out and was checking my CAI, I am able to push it down and the tube going into the throttle body moves and almost feels like I could pull it out if I pulled hard enough. Now I didnt install this, I had the shop that did my tuning do it...could it be loose?? Could it be the cause of my car stuttering at WOT?

Anything I can check to make sure its installed correctly?

 

Depending on the unit itself, it usually has a polyurethane sleeve that covers the intake and joins to the inlet tube. There are two band-clamps with hex bolts/screws that tighten the clamps. The tube on mine is the "Racer" thus plastic and I had to be careful not to over tighten. You can take a 3/8" socket and turn the bolts so the clamps tighten down, just don't use a BIG ratchet, use the 1/4" drive or the smallest you own.

 

I have the racer intake as well, I just wasnt sure if it should be able to move up and down if I push on it.

 

Did they reflash the computer when they installed the intake. That wouldn't cause it to be loose, but maybe could cause it to 'studder because it was running lean. (that's just a guess)

 

Oh no, ive had it installed for almost a year....it just started doing this lately.....so Iwas checking the connections and noticed that I could move the CAI up and down. So I wasnt sure if I should be able to do that or not.
