Uh, we got a air filter?

 

Hey, save your $$$$$ and pull the thing out and give it a good going over with a shop vac. Do both sides. Mine cleaned up like new as it was only dust not any grim like the engine air filter.

 

New Cabin air filter installed, 10k miles. $19.22 + tax. 10 minutes to install. Phillips head screw driver only tool needed.

1. Turn on wipers to 12 o clock position.
2. Open hood.
3. Unscrew two plastic screws.
4. Push up from bottom two plastic pop rivets.
5. Remove passenger cowling.
6. Remove plastic filter housing.
7. Remove paper filter from housing.
8. Insert paper filter into housing.
9. Install in reverse.

My filter was very dirty. I plan on changing it every 10k miles.

PS I cleaned the glass and the paint under the cowl with some glass cleaner.

 

Replaced it again at 19k miles. No leaves or water.

 

It was very easy to change. After I finished, I was kicking myself for waiting so long to change it as it only took 5 minutes or so.

 

I'm waiting for a $500 CAI setup for the cabin air so I can get cooler, fresher air

 

My filter didn't look too bad but it's so easy to change that I did it anyway.

 

We need a roof mounted Shaker scoop for cabin air!!!

 

I bought the factory one the first time i did it but then remember someone saying you can take a good quality home fliter and cut it to fit in the factory case..

 

I changed mine after 2 years

 

Have not changed mine but am considering doing it before the winter.

 

Changed mine about 6 months ago. Not a problem at all.

Checked mine today. With 27k on the odometer is really clean. I'm surprised.

 

I've never really trusted my dealership when they claim to have replaced the in-cabin filter. It's not so readily accessible that I bet they figure I'd never notice if they didn't change it. I think the next time mine's in for servicing, I'm gonna ask them to just dump the new filter in the trunk and I'll install it myself later.

 

Or you ask them to put the one they removed in the trunk ...

 

Just did mine today it was a piece of cake, mine didn't look to bad. It has almost 20k on it. I was getting a little bit of a smell for the first few seconds after I turn the A/C on so I figured what the heck.

 

i pulled mine today and blew it out with compressed air, it was pretty dirty after 23k....

but im sure it was original and my car is an 05.

took only 10 minutes at most.

 

Just a heads up for people with MRT hood struts. You will need to remove the passenger side strut and lower mount. No big deal, but I found this out the other day. On my 3rd cabin filter.

 

Same as I did. Very easy. You need no mechanical experience to do this. 5 Minutes of 'work'.

 

Reminds me I need to probably replace mine again.
