Buy 06, or wait?

I was looking at an 06 Vert GT at my local ford dealer in Hackensack, NJ over the weekend. Its around 34k.

Would you guys wait, and see if the price will come down? I doubt vert GTs will go down THAT much.

How long before the dealers have to push these out the door to make room for 07 MY?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Work them on the price, that sounds too high for an '06.
If they don't budge order an '07 but from another dealer.

If you don't need any of the 07 options or colors, and like the one you have seen, why not try to get them to negotiate on it? I paid MSRP but I know people here have paid less. Good luck

I paid MSRP for an 05 in Aug 05. The same dealer is now at $3K UNDER MSRP. Do not pay MSRP. Look a little farther away. There are also a few dealers on the board ( ISELLFORD is one ) who have done a good job for members. I do not know if he is dealing that low yet.

Well, the ONLY thing that I dont like about the GTs on the lot, is the spoiler. I originally wanted a spoiler delete. But after seeing the ones on the lot in person, I dont mind the spoiler as much as I thought I would.

I also dont see anything that I want from the new 07 options.

So an 06 would be fine.

Do you guys have a suggestion on how much lower than MSRP I should start haggling from?

I also was wondering if the 07s are close to being on lots, and if I should wait just a bit more before haggling.

I'm not looking to save a fortune. Just dont want to get screwed basically.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I would start at INVOICE and work up from there. Find out exactly what options it has and go do your homework.

My rule of thumb is that if you get the car OTD for the window sticker price (after options), you did pretty good.

Well Boltman, thats what I am trying to figure out. I wont pay more than the car is worth. I suppose that is subjective.. But if you are looking for a rough estimate, I am willing to pay around 33 or 34 for a gt vert.

Brother, you must wait for the price to come down. It's like video games, when you buy a video game then you realize that the next day its like $10 less than what you bought it. You know what happens

if you go on blueovalnews.com there is a forum for x plan pin requesting, i would go there and try to get ahold of a pin that way if you want to buy a car you get about invoice price, plus they will give you all the incentives you qualify for.

true. I remember how hard it was looking for an X-BOX because my mom wanted to wait for a good price.

I love my vert. However,if I did not own a garage,I would not buy one.The outside elements here in Fl. kill the vinyl. Also if you live up north, your chances to drop the top are minimal.I used to live in NJ and remember it snowing in Mid April.

True, BUT (as you know) there is nothing like driving a vert... I only owned one (a 69 VW Beetle Vert HAHA!) and have missed not having one ever since... Lots of fond memories. I had a jeep wrangler, but putting the soft top on and off was a pain.

You should be able to negotiate at least a couple thousand off MSRP for a car on the lot unless it is one that the dealer bought from another dealer.
You should be able to do a little better on a car you order.
