Build Sheet
I found the original build sheet for my 68 Shelby when I removed the instrument cluster to change some burned out lamps, it was rolled up and taped to the wiring harness under a clamp right in plain sight!, one of the nice things about an unrestored car is finds like that
It had all sorts of info on it, it doesnt look to much different than the ones still being used!

I am going to try Blue Oval as well. I don't know why Ford doesn't link this info on the MY FORD web site, as well as putting all the mustang commercials on a web site that could be downloaded and saved. I plan to keep the car for years and down the road, this stuff would be cool to have.

What if you keep everything else? I know my build sheet went into the trash, so there is no chance of recovering it.
I have the window sticker, the NY times article, All the paperwork, all service records, everything. A whole book full of stuff about the car.
And a whole crapload of pics of her delivery off the truck.

I went to the Blue Oval Forums yesterday and joined. I then went to the Ford employee sub forum and gave a gentleman my VIN #. Today he provided me with the two PDF files and all the dates of my build timeline. I have the window sticker laminated but it was cool to have one as a PDF file on my computer. Cool stuff
Here are the dates:

On the Blue Oval Forum in the employee section, in the sub forum CHECK YOUR VEHICAL STATUS, Kzinti was the guy I received it from. You will see numerous postings of people trying to get into on their cars using there VIN #. So I using the advice of this thread when there. It was cool to get all the info. Good luck. It only took one day for him to get the info for me

Well, thats still worth a lot! If you ever watch barrett jacksons, they point out how a collection of reciepts, a record of mileage, anything, if very important. What you have there is way more than anything sold there has.

I saw. :bang: I was just so shocked and surprised (note the "?!?") that I wanted to be sure thats exactly how you got it. You see, yesterday I did not post in blue oval, since it appeared that everyone was doing 2006 models. Even though yours was made in 04, its still a somewhat recent build, and was very skeptical on if they would do my car.
I ended up posting there today, because I want that sticker so bad! My car was used, and I believe the first people to own it was a rental company, so I dont even know if it ever had a sticker.

I am thinking that if you give them your VIN number, he may be able to find your info. Good Luck The car had a sticker when it was new, the question is how long does Ford keep it in there database

Yea, going by that sticker date it says my car was made 10/12 or 10/17.
I am a total nerd. I kept all the car stickers, all the 05 articles, innovation drive passes, the times article all in a huge scrapbook saving it for someday.

April. Are you refering to the date on your Window sticker? That doesn't have anything to do with the build date. It's either the date the sticker was printed or the date the dealer was invoiced. (they may be the same date, I can't remember)
Here's the explantion from the link Chris just provided.
The only one I'd have to disagree with is the Sold Date. It's actually the date the paperwork is finalized and turned in. Back when we were all first getting our cars and finding out what all these dates were, there were several people who bought their cars before what Ford showed as the Sold Date.
I had my car on 3/11, but the sold date was 3/15.
Here's the explantion from the link Chris just provided.
Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order.
When the order is received from the dealers
Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created.
When the order is received by Material Planning and parts are ordered
Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built.
When they figure (roughly) that parts will hit the plant to build vehicle
Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built.
When they figure the exact day that parts will hit the plant to build vehicle
Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day.
When they figure the order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.
Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle
Your unit has been built!
Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping.
Your unit has left the building, and is in the hands of the shipper (rail or truck)
Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant.
Your unit has left the load site, and is on it's way to the dealer
Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle.
Your dealer has the unit in hand, doing the dealer prep thingy
Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle.
You came in, looked it over, said, "I'll take it!" and signed the papers

Yes the date on the sticker says 10/17. I knew it was around then sometime ,because the manufactured date on the door says 10/04.
I also found a curiosity under my carpet in the trunk that said 10/12. I don't know WTF I did with it though.
My sold date is correct- I picked up and bought 12/20.
