Brake fluid reservoir marking question

I recall that when my Stang first came from the factory, the fluid level was very close to the top part of the reservoir, and it would seep out the cap gasket.

I experimented with removing the brake fluid until it no longer seeps out, and tried just keeping it right at the bottom of the MAX triangle (so far, so good). I had it between CAV1 and TRW for awhile but felt more comfortable with a tad more brake fluid in the reservoir.

For those that still have brake fluid seeping out, what is your fluid level and how far from the top of the reservoir (the flat part) is the MAX marking?

I just put some plumbers tape on the threads and the cap fits very secure. Have not had ANY leaks at all. That way you can leave it maxed out.

Is "maxed" out right at the tip of the MAX triangle?

Mine was just ABOVE the word MAX and the triangle from the factory. It was built on 2/20/07. It was not leaking, but I removed brake fluid until was at the bottom of the MAX mark.

I removed enough to go just below the MAX line and have not had any leakage since.
