So if I understand some of these postings, if I get a pony from a 64.5 - 65 it should fit my 05 when it arrives?

It that is the case I agree with SSCobra that it would be cool to have an older pony on the new car and I have one from my dad's 65 that was totaled.....sad day in our family back in 76 but, I digress.

Not too big, really, though I think perhaps a more modern, stylized version would have been better. Perhaps some sort of 2D outlined pony effect with a machined surface finish ... same size, but a lighter, more modern impression, less garish, shiny bling-bling effect. Perhaps like the Concept had:

Like everyone else said. A big grille gets big components for everything to look in place and in proportion. If you downsize one thing, then everything needs to get downsized to keep the balance.
If anything, I think the grille is a bit too tall. Not much, because I wouldnt change it.

What I would really like is the off-set pony logo with the red/white/blue stripes from I believe the 1970 BOSS?

Now you know where the metal went from the engine cover. They put too much in the pony emblam and didn't have enough left to put on the engine.... Anyway, I think it looks fine. Stands out when you come up on somebody and blow by them....THey have time to see what it was that's going by.

Remember...nothing else on the car (besides the tri-bar cap on the V6) identifies the car as a Mustang...

(Well, besides the very design of the car, but that's different )

I think it looks fine, then again I want a billit grill anyway so it will be removed eventually.

The pony on this car is an exact replica in size and shape to the one on the 64 1/2 mustang. That's why its that size.
and thats why its so perfect

So, it's even more of a landslide than I thought. B) I voted no... I think it's just the right size. Sure, it's big... but it's not that big when you are driving around and people are seeing it from 10-20 feet away and more. It is the perfect proportion compared to the size of the grill.
