I knew something seemed out of place looking at the front. It's about 1.5" wider (or longer, depending on how it is measured) than the previous gen. I would be interested in knowing what was the designers' logic for making the pony 20 - 25% bigger.

Well isn't the actual grille on the 05 bigger than what was on the 94-2004's?

I love it but, I wish the after market co's would make some custom emblems to replace it with.

Ahh, that explains the price increase.

Good question.. never even noticed.

Obviously the '05 has a much bigger grille area and using a smaller pony would almost look "lost" in the larger grille.

Any smaller and it would look wimpy in that huge (and beautiful) grille.

The pony on this car is an exact replica in size and shape to the one on the 64 1/2 mustang. That's why its that size.

Yep, it's modeled after the 64 1/2 Mustang as vwAirCooled stated. And it looks perfect.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding!

We have a winner!

I believe they made the mold for the new grill from one off of a 64 1/2.

Hehe.... "who agrees with me" questions can sometimes backfire.

I didn't really notice until you brought it up though. I personally the larger grille needed a bigger emblem. Sorry George, you know I'm still on your side.

The 64 1/2 - 66 used the larger grill pony (as on the 05). I think (but not sure) the 67 used the same size pony but with the corral. The 68 grill pony was smaller than all previous years. The 68 pony is actually the exact same size as the 94-04 ponies. I have a 68 (metal) pony in place of the stock (plastic) pony on my 95 convertible (this can be done with minor modification). It's just kinda cool having the "vintage" pony riding on my 95 "the first retro re-designed" mustang.

I think it's just the right size. If it was any smaller I think it wouldn't look right imo. I just wish mine would hurry up and get built.
