Leo- if you find some cool, decent-priced alternatives please let me know. Otherwise I'm considering having mine powdercoated- there is a place in my town that does great powdercoating and has done some S197 covers.
Lowest I've seen is here, but they only show black and blue cam covers in stock.

How about FREE. Just taken off the ones you got and paint them yourself whatever color you want. Takes about 1 day to take off, paint, dry, and put back on.

The paint is holding up fine, no problems. The paint is a Dupont product called Mirage. It is a 3 step (cans) procedure. 1st step is a base coat of black, 2nd coat is the flecks in a clear coat (the more coats the more reflection), and the 3rd coat is a clear coat. Hard to mess it up and touching it up is a snap. The color was called Black Ice and I brought it at the local Meijer store for about $18.

Painted mine, at approx. 1 year and 7000 miles later it appears the heat is getting the better of them. I used every precaution and primed them with etching primer 3 coats and then PPG base 3 coats to match and 3 top coats of clear...they are starting to lift around the spark plug valleys. My car was only 2 months old when I did this and I feel like my prep work was right so I'm guessing the heat is the culprit.
