I just put the GTA's on my GT/CS. They look good and sound good, especially for the price. There are louder ones out there, but I chose these because of no drone, and I hope to get long tubes with an O/R x-pipe and didn't want the sound to be insane. I also got mine from ninosport, I had them at my door in 5 days from ordering them online.

Just as there is no "best" CAI/springs/LCA/tuner/shifter/chin spoiler/stereo head unit/wheel center caps/valve stem caps/radiator cover, there is no "best" axle back kit. The one that sounds best to you, the owner of the car, is the best one. The opinions of others does not matter with regard to sound. What sounds sweet to me, might sound like *** to you

That's what I said from the get-go :

You're asking a question that's HEAVILY biased, as each person will say that THEIR exhaust is the best. So, I would recommend just searching some posts on this forum to find out what people have to say about their particular exhaust.

If drone is a concern, then there is really only one choice: Corsa. If drone isn't a concern, there are a lot of different companies out there, and I'm sure they all sound GREAT.

Stock is fine but quiet. I then switched to Flowmaster American Thunder with good results - sound was good and louder - but there is a drone at ~ 1600 in top gear - and it was annoying over time. Six months ago, I bought a used set of Corsas (otherwise way too expensive). But these are perfect for me - louder, very agressive at WOT and no drone at crusing.

Come join us at the Fantasy of flight show on April 14 and sample all the noisemakers mentioned above!

The third post has the link to the Polk County club website and registration form.

Yep, that describes them. As their motto states: "Loud when you want it to be, quiet when it needs to be"

BTW, you are lucky to have found a used set of Corsa's. They are few and VERY far between. I don't think anyone has taken them off to go with something else, so the only way to find would be if taken off to sell the car.

Me too all the way. I was just saying in another post that having a car that sounds like a top fuel dragster-when you play around with something like an M3 that will be hovering around your door the whole time-is kinda silly. If the car can rear back and visibly twist up as it claws and waivers down the track in a huge black cloud to a 9.40 its another story. FRPP's SGT exhaust all the way. The good ol' flowmasters AT's don't sound too bad either.

I still have yet to hear anything from Bassani on an 05+ yet though. I had full Bassani's on my last GT, but I think the new car sounds better in general it doesn't need much.

EDIT: wow I just heard the clips of the Bassanis, the standard set makes it sound like a Ferrari V8, and the extreme sounds exactly like the Ford GT. Although I would make sure I had 450+hp before sporting those. And if you are going totally retro, the friggin cherry bombs are a dead-ringer for a 60's car... But for just a little more sound the flows/frpp's/mags are pretty safe setups. After I tinker a bit I am going for bare minimum exterior mods(keepin the fanblades, GT500 nose with stock hood no spoiler and FRPP suspension), I may have to get another set of SS Bassanis.

I love my stingers.
There is drone but, I don't mind.
And I drive 60 miles a day to school in Los Angeles/OC traffic.
I'm pretty sure whatever you go with, it will sound waaayyy better than stock.
I tottaly love my stingers.

What is the difference between the GTA's and the FRPP's?? I see the GTA's come on the GT-H and the Shelby-GT.

I am also pondering this question right now. I know the Stingers sound bad ***, but I can't tolerate drone. I really love the sound of Corsa's but man are they expensive. The flomasters and Mags are great sounding for the money they cost, but I remember someone on here complaining about the Flowmasters quality (dustin I believe) said they rattle after a while and that he was on his 2nd or 3rd pair. I could be wrong though. Tom281 can provide some good info here as he has done a TON of different setups.

Dustin doesn't like the anodized steel construction of the mufflers (painted black). He says that since they aren't stainless steel like other brands they will rust through in no time. Maybe in snowbelt states he is right, I can't answer that, but IMHO by the time the anodized steel wears out you will be trading the car in anyway...

I have had my Flows since November of 2005. There was a bad batch of Flows that went out Summer of 2005 where the mufflers would rattle internally - Flowmaster sent out replacement mufflers with a newer design and the issue went away.

I had one of the bad ones, and am on my second set which I installed December 2005. No trouble with the integrity of the mufflers since the installation. My only gripe is the crappy clamps that Flowmaster includes with their setup - my recommendation is to go get $3 "U" clamps at Autozone and that solves that problem.

I wholeheartedly recommend Flowmaster for both sound and durability. Of course, like others have said sound is a matter of personal taste, but I am extremely happy!

I just now bought a set of barely used GTA's from a local guy. He wanted something a little more aggressive sounding.

EDIT: He meant to say a little less aggressive.

Tom, whenever you are at a show and I'm there, I'll take you for a ride in my car. You can hear the Borla's for yourself, and see if the drone is tolerable.

Thanks for the extra info. I am in no rush for this as I want to get it right the first time (too **** expensive otherwise ). Though with some shows coming up I will be keeping my ears open for my new sound.

Thanks Jeff I would really appreciate that. My biggest concern in all this is that with an Auto I can't really shift the drone away. As normal cruising RPM's for the Auto tranny is 1000 to 1500 and for most mufflers this is where they drone. Still the stingers sound sick. Thanks for the offer I will be taking you up on that. Your the man

Hey I just hit 1K for posts, Yay for me
