Best Axle Backs???....NO Rice!!!
What are the best Axle backs for the GT/CS fascia (i.e. Gt-H wind diffuser)... I know it will fit a 4" pipe. I want them to sound good and deep, but I don't want them to sound Rice!!!
I love my Flowmaster American Thunder axle-backs. They have a nice tone -- nice and muscular -- without being too loud to scare the neighbors. They also have a 4" outlet that fills the cutouts quite nicely. And since the mufflers are painted black, they blend in underneath the car and look factory.
You're asking a question that's HEAVILY biased, as each person will say that THEIR exhaust is the best. So, I would recommend just searching some posts on this forum to find out what people have to say about their particular exhaust.
If drone is a concern, then there is really only one choice: Corsa. If drone isn't a concern, there are a lot of different companies out there, and I'm sure they all sound GREAT.
I see that Ninosport.com has different sound bites but I was wondering how most of these actually sound in person?
Also anyone with Modded Axle Backs with a Vert, how loud inside the car are they over your Factory 3" pipe?

To give you an idea: I've driven at 75 mph with the top down and talked on the cell phone.
Corsa's website has some sound bites, and I think they are pretty much on par of what it really sounds like.
There is NO axle back for the mustang that will make it sound RICE...we have a V8.

does the stock setup have drone? if it does hopefully my new pipes wont bother me too much...
The factory setup does have a slight amount of drone when you compare them to the Corsa's. It's by no means bad or annoying, but I do think the corsa's are a little quieter when crusing.
Anyone heard the Exhaust that is on the GT-H/ Shelby-GT (not 500) ??
They are selling these Axle backs on ninosport.com for $280shipped, and claim to have no drone. Made by Supreme Performance for Ford Racing. model# M-5230-GTA

GTA's
Just put the GTA's on the last couple of weeks - looks are great compared with stock, they are quiet but with a deep rumble...they don't "uncork" like a corsa does, but they have a nice sound to them...and couldn't beat them for the price... Also there is NO DRONE with these....
Dropping the top exposes a lot more rumble at idle, sounds great! Minor drone if you lug the engine, but not bad at all. I usually turn off the radio just to hear the exhaust when I have the top down.
Flowmasters wake up when you mash the loud pedal - not as raspy as "open pipe" setups like SLPs, but also not as loud.
My take on Flows is: Louder than stock, but not enough to get me in to trouble, but NOT loud enough to intimidate that ricer in a Cavalier that wants to race.

!!! If you want to hear them in person, I would have no problem with setting up a meeting point somewhere here in the bay area.
