Bent shift linkage?

Hello everyone. I'm ashamed to admit it but I curbed my beloved Mustang pretty good after spilling hot coffee in my lap. Now, 1st, 3rd, and 5th are difficult to engage. 2nd and 4th are perfectly fine. I'm hoping it is just a bent shift linkage. It's going in for a looksee Wednesday. Any thoughts? I need to hear something positive as I feel awful for inflicting damage on my car.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Sorry to hear about your car's damage. Keep in mind that the shifter attaches at one end to the body (at the upper part of the tunnel where your shifter is located) and the other end to the transmission, so it must have been a hard hit to shift one or both.

It was indeed. My concentration was broken by the hot coffee boiling my you know what. I'm thinking that it might be the motor mounts or trans mounts if not the linkage.

This sucks. It sounds like something that would happen to me...LOL. I don't mean to laugh, I hope it gets straightened out for you with minimal $.

Thanks. As long as they don't gave to go into the trans, it shouldn't cost too much.
