My Dad is a contractor..Last night I got a little too close to the remodel stuff he had hauled home to be disposed of when I was picking my kiddies up...
I got a GIANT size roofing nail stuck in the rear tire. I heard a click clickclick today...Checked out, and learned a new curse word or two.
:bang:
What to do now? Its those nails with the plastic rings around the heads. I am NOT replacing a brand new tire if I don't gotta.
Anyone else had to have their tire plugged yet?

Don't take it out!! Your tire will be flat in no time!! A plug usually on last 3-6 months MAXIMUM depending upon the size of the hole. I hate to tell ya April, but you're going to have to get a new tire whether it's now or 3 months down the line. Sorry, it does stink though :notnice: !!!

Need I mention my hubbys going to kill me? 
He said If I kept abusing the tires(with burnouts) I had to replace them myself...
I guess driving while foolish applies too. I shoulda KNOWN better than to go within a MILE of that trailer to back up.

3-6 months? I've had plugs put into tires and then drove the car for years. My 97 GT had a plug put in the front tire the day I bought it. 3 years later and 60,000 km I traded the car in with the same tire on it.
I'd say bring it to a shop. Have them remove the tire and patch it from the inside if you are that worried about it but the plug is the cheapest route.

yeah that does stink April, don't feel bad because once I was following a truck with hay in it in my Stang and it hit a bump on the highway and the hay about a whole 3 HUGE block fulls flew off the truck and SLAM right into my car. I was so pissed 
but thankfully no damage, just hay in places you would have no idea they would be (somehow a couple pieces in the trunk, etc.).

Can this wait till Saturday? My Hubby is out of town, want him to take her. I have driving to do tomorrow- albeit only two miles to the grocery.
I despise going to the tire places- I always get screwed. Last time I had tires put on the alero- they charged me for the 2255016s I ordered, and put on 2155015s. Like I wasn't gonna notice.
I just don't wanna replace ONE tire, when all four are brand new and perfect. Patch or plug?

Several years ago in my hometown of Bowling Green, KY, we had an awful hail storm, which ruined roofs all over the city. Afterwards, roofs were being repaired everywhere. As a result, I think I had a total of 4-5 plugs in my brand new tires. I ran them until they were nearly bald with no problems whatsoever.
In fact, my dad bought this tool to do them at home. It consists of a long straight rod with texturing all around it. After you pull the screw out, you run it up and down in the hole to rough up the inside of the hole. You then take this tar-like plug and place it on another tool to put it in. It always worked like a charm, and believe me, we used it a lot. Of the dozen or so plugs we put in ourselves, never had a problem with any of them. Whenever we have our tires off to do brakework, I would spray the plugs with Windex, and there was never a leak. It is also a heck of a lot cheaper.

Depends April, you hit a pothole and it might jar it loose causeing a slow leak or something. You don't need to go to a tire place either. Any local gas station with Mech and it's done in 3 to 5 minutes. It's that simple.

Patch.
As mentioned, the patch gets put on the inside of the tire and will last the life of the tire. IMO, Plugs are a temporary fix that you can do yourself (or a shop that can't unmount/mount then balance tires will do a plug too). Seriously, a patch will make it perform and last like it never happened.
